If it's even happened, when was the last time you could buy an American car and only need one socket set?

Would a Japanese vehicle, manufactured in Japan, be 100% metric?

1965 Rambler Classic 550 station wagon.

Only needed a standard set, no metric on the car that I found. Was a cool first car, other then the carb needing to be rebuilt every 300 miles even though I had 3 fuel filters on it. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Actually Glenn I don't think it is. I'm pretty sure the driveshaft and rear end components are standard....been a while since I've rebuilt a 10 bolt but I didn't think it was metric.

D/S strap bolts are 11mm. diff cover can be 1/2" or 13mm. and carrier bolts are 9/16" or 15mm. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Remember some cross over(kinda) I know there are other's but off the top of my head...

7/32-7mm
1/2-13mm
9/16-14mm
3/4-19mm

So is it really all standard or metric?

The 8 bolts on top the shock towers are all metric. The studs and lug nuts are also all metric although a 3/4" socket works as well.
