How long can it log data?

Is the software a simple downloadable interface or does it allow you to manipulate the data? What kind of data can you get?

It will log a 22 minute acceleration/deceleration run. It will log 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. You can view the 0-60 and back runs and the 1/4 mile runs in the computer and pick any spot and see the distance, speed and HP at that point. It will give a true g-force reading based on the actual thrust angle and some other neat stuff. It will not data log an autocross run (it will, but just the acceleration/braking portion). It also has a "graphing" function where it plots the curves (like a G anaylist did) for acceleration and braking (but wont store them....just put it where your cam corder will pick it up and it is instant datalogging.....lol). It's not perfect, but it's been fun and educational (I can stop from 60-0 in 116 feet on a chip and tar road on street tires).

Correct me if I'm wrong. You can download striaght line accel/braking info, but you can't log g-forces (side to side and front to back) for an autocross run?

You're not wrong. That's exactly correct.

Sorry for all of the questions, but I can't find any detailed info on this thing even from Beltronics website.

1. Can the data be download to a text file or similar format for later viewing either by the software itself or another program (think graphing in excel)?

2. The manual says it takes data at 200 samples per second. When you download the data to your PC do you get 200 samples per second of data or does it do some averaging to cut down on the storage?

If you could send me a log (like an autocross run or driving down the street) it would probably answer all of my questions. Thanks. E-mail me at pknowles@wam.umd.edu

What I really want is an accelerameter for both directions (front to back and side to side) with a datalogger so I can play with the data and gives me enough samples to see different things. Thanks.

You need their software to read the file. So, sending you one is not going to help much (I'll still do it, but it's probably not going to be useful).

It samples pretty quickly. I can click on the acceleration/braking curve and see the instant speed, hp and distance at any point. However, it won't log lateral forces (damn drag racers). You can see tire spin in the hp curves (they get jagged when the wheels are spinning) which is kind of neat.

It's been fun to play with and educational. It doesn't do exactly what you're looking for from what I can tell, but you may learn some things anyway.

I'm not sure how it mounts, but you might be able to turn it sideways (like the old G-Tech) if you want to log lateral G's.

...FYI... If that does work, try really hard not to slam into a Toyota Celica while staring at the meter... Not that I (or Trackbird mostly) have been there. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
