QUOTE (axoid @ Aug 12 2005, 12:28) If he does, I just hope I have race tires. The last time I had just corded two of my R tires and I was stuck on streets. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) Why don't we try to get a bunch of F-body cars in for an event, maybe the Oct. 16th which is OVR's cancer charity event. It would make for a good excuse. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Checked my calendar it looks good-our points season is over by then-although I bet my V710's will be corded by then. Hell I'd come out just for the ability to ride in Sam's car and bug him with annoying questions all day long. |

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Oh please. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Me-not the best driver in the world on 275's and a new to me setup-and an untuned one at that. Ok, ok I have more HP & TQ. vs Lonnie-attends tour events and has 315's/335's on a familiar tuned setup. FWIW I pax all over the place locally. Anywhere from 8th to 30th out of 100-130 drivers. I've only been in a the top ten a couple times. I'm really nervous that I won't make a fool out of myself. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) BTW, I'm putting on my random tech torque arm as we speak. Going to set it at -2* or as close as I can get this angle finder is hard to read. If I didn't need my tires to last the rest of the season I'd offer you a codrive-or if I could actually fit your tires on my car. I do know a talented local f-body hotshoe that I'm going to also use for tuning feedback once I think I got it about perfect. If the rally cars stay in ESP I'll order 555RII's if not another set of V710's. I've decided to hold off on 17x11's til I can afford a 17x11/17x12 combo from CCW. I'm tired of settling for second teir parts-I'll just stop spending until I can put the best stuff on. |

I know just making a joke...You know what my thoughts are what you've got going on.
If you feel like it's working and want me to take it for a spin I'll just take it for one run. I'll just tell grid that my car won't fire. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) At the Toledo Tour I told grid my car was "broken" and drove Sam's car because he had rain tires...Miraculasly it was fixed for Sunday without doing a damn thing to it. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I wouldn't worry about the rally cars. Next year you will again have the best car for the class. And V710's I think are very durable IF you don't have something messed up with your alignment and IF you don't do dumb stuff (divebomb into corners flast spot tires etc, etc.) I am considering buying a set of Ecsta V700's but those would be for a test and maybe local events...710's IMO are AWESOME!! |

(IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I'll say one thing I was amazed me was the cold grip of the V710's-better than my victoracers, but the victoracers are tough tires and very forgiving. I was considering running victoracers next year if I can get some more runs per season it might be worth it. Oh I just installed the random technology torque arm tonight. Pinion angle appears to be about -2.5*, but I'll probably double check it once more. I did find a bad thing. The previous owner evidently disconnected my torque arm when he changed the rear end gears. Well both the torque arm bolts were not much more than finger tight. I cleaned the threads, added some loctite 271, and torqued them to 100 ft-lbs. the holes had elongated on the torque arm too. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) This is the same guy that had the stick to the hurst shifter really loose and ready to fall off and had my pinion gear nut really loose. It looks like I've finally gone through enough of the car that all of his mistakes are fixed. I'm going to double check ride heights tomorrow and check and maybe adjust the toe. The car pulls slightly to the right. Caster and camber are maxed out (but I'll double check) so I'm going to toe it out a little on the left and toe it in a little on the right. The alignment feels good other than that and the car feels "correct" trying to slalom it on street tires. I hope my hawker battery gets here in time-I should've taken your Harley battery advice-it was the same price I paid onlien for mine. I also have some 1LE fog light covers on the way to delete the front fogs. |

Hey Rob where did you get the foglight grilles and how much. I've still not put them on mine.
As far as tires, I don't think there is ANYTHING better then the 710's. They have TONS of grip, are very forgiving, and really quite durable. Only issue is that the get to hot easy. Which mean for you, being on 275's you DEFINATELY need a garden sprayer full of ice water for every event. I've used the sprayer a few times now, with a single driver and on 315/335 tires. |

That's what I've noticed about them the two times I had a codriver. They overheat so damn easily and even with icewater we were having issues. I codrove with the same person the prior year once on victoracers and it wasn't that big a deal. Perhaps I do need to spray them at single driver events.
I got the covers at P&G Chevrolet www.partszoneonline.com I think $4.32 each or something. They're a tad more than GM Partsdirect, but they charge you real shipping rates and you can call up and talk to a real person if you have a problem. I also have a new dash panel on the way mine developed an 8" crack. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I'm going to try bondo and paint on my old one to fix the crack and use flat black plastic paint to cut down on glare. |

I just registered.
Rain? I may have to run my street tires for the first time ever (they are probably faster than the excuse for race rubber that I've been using). |

My balding V710's are actually better in the rain than my street tires. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Guess that's what I get for leaving dayton brand street tires on my car. Too early to say for sure but my luck having just changed a bunch of stuff on the car is surely to bring us a torrential downpour. That's because you were shooting my ammo..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif) Yea. It can take it (barely.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ). I just finished sorting the brass last night. I've tumbled all of the .45 acp brass (and that's a really big pile) and filled a box that's about 10x14x4 nearly to the top. The .40 brass is in the tumbler now (I'll run it tonight) and I'm throwing the 9mm stuff away. I'm sure that I spent well over $100 in ammo for our last outing (and I'd do it again). I picked up 200 more rounds of 45 last night for this weekend (plus the 250-ish I have left). |

I've got about 300 rounds of .45. I need to pick up some .40 though.

I had a .44 special S&W (8" barrel I think it was BIG gun). It was a GREAT handgun. Quite, low recoil, and I was pretty decent with it but sold it JUST because of the ammo costs.
I had a .357 S&W before that and sold it because it was HORRIDLY loud and had quite a bit of recoil. And my last to be sold gun was a Mossberg 835. And when I had it I was willing to pay ANYONE who could load it and empty it in succesion. I'm a big guy and I could barely take it. It had some sort of custom turkey choke tube my father bought, and with high volocity loads it was absolutely brutal. Before I bought the Limb Saver recoil pad it would make you feel as though you were in a car accident just shooting it. I wish I had that so you guys could shoot that thing. |
