The South Texas Porsche Club is hosting an event on 2/28/04 at South Padre Island. I have been running these events for two years and they arethe best deal going. You get 2-3 hours of run time, timing, and driving instruction if you want it. It is typically a 2-3 mile course set up on an old air base. They only charge $60!! The non-Porsches outnumber the Porsches and there is nothing like running down a twin turbo 911 with a F-body. Let me know if anyone is interested in going along. Several of us are ventuing down from Corpus Christi if you are interested.

I would love to hit that!!!! The coastal bend area is great. I live in Lubbock, but we have a place at La Mirage, on Mustang Island, where we spend our summer vacation, etc.

I will retire to that area someday, if I am lucky!! Have a great event - good luck.

I've run these types of time trial events at Cabaniss before they closed it. Also put some time in at mineral wells w/ the Dallas area PCA. Definately worth it. Biggest recommendation? make sure your brakes are in tip top shape. You'll definately abuse them.

This is the same group of racers that used to run at Cabanis feild before it shut down. Here is the link to the hosting club.

It would be great to see other F-bodys there.

These events are so much fun! If you are in a 3 hr radius I would highly recommend going.
6+ hr drive is a bit much for me.

6hr drive? It took us 3.5 one year from the bridge at Padre to San Marocs, but we were moving. Normally its about 4-4.5 I think? But still a long drive for just a day.... But it would be fun. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

We drive down and back in one day. Every once in a while my racing buddy in his Z-06 and I will drive the cars down and have someone carry our tires. Nothing like running the cars on a deserted HWY 77 at dawn at a little higher than highway speeds. If anyone wants to meet up in CC, I am trailering my car and have room for some extra tires.

I believe I have heard of these events.

A friend named Chuck Stong has an LT4 Firehawk and snagged me pretty hard into this road course thing. I recall him saying that there is a straight that is like a mile long or some crazy stuff?

I am already committed to TWS the weekend after or I would give this serious considertion.

When is the next one scheduled?

I very much want to go and do this some time, but I need a much longer time frame in which to plan for it, since I am about 8+ hours away.

Just got the old TA weighed for the race this weekend. 3300lbs with full tank of gas. Not too bad for a T-top car. Anyone planning to go? We have three F-bodys heading down from Corpus and a couple of "other" cars.
