The below is taken from Jayski.com:

Busch Police Report: Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio released the police report of the Nov. 11 incident with Kurt Busch Thursday, along with a statement of how the "antagonistic" Busch was stopped for reckless driving and even refused a deputy's request to submit to a field sobriety test. But although the lengthy report details the belligerent manner in which Busch dealt with the officers involve- at one time, according to the report, saying, "You have no idea what you're doing. You have no idea who I am. You have to be the dumbest cops I've ever met" - it also says he later passed both a preliminary breath test and an eye test.
An unnamed female passenger in the rented Ford Expedition told police that Busch was driving because she had had too much to drink. Busch told police he had consumed one margarita at a Mexican restaurant. According to the report, Busch's blood-alcohol level was .017 percent, well below the .08 intoxication limit in Arizona. Arresting deputy Glenn Powe had attempted to test Busch earlier on another breathalyzer machine, but it was found to be out of tolerance, police said. Busch was handcuffed, told he was being arrested for DUI, and brought to a command post, where he agreed to the other tests. There, "I did not see any obvious signs or symptoms of alcohol impairment," wrote one of the three deputies involved in the incident.
But the Roush organization said it suspended Busch for his hostility toward the deputies involved. According to the report, Powe tried to stop Busch after he noticed the Explorer following another vehicle too closely, and swerving across a solid yellow line to avoid an accident after the first vehicle slowed to make a right turn. According to Powe's narrative, Busch handed the deputy his NASCAR credential in addition to his driver's license and rental car agreement. Powe wrote that he asked Busch if he worked for NASCAR, and received "a long-winded dissertation about his celebrity status, listing his accomplishments as if he were reading me his resume."
After asking Busch to exit the vehicle, Powe wrote that the driver responded, "This is bull----." Later, according to Powe, Busch said, "You guys are a joke. Punks. Aren't you supposed to be directing traffic somewhere?" Powe wrote that Busch refused to finish the field sobriety test, saying, "I'm not doing this gay (expletive) test." Powe wrote that as he powered up the breathalyzer machine later found to be out of tolerance, Busch said, "You're only doing this because you're a Jeff Gordon fan."(Charleston Post and Courier and links to copis of the report at the Arizona Republic)(11-18-2005)

He deserves whatever suspension he got! A race or two starting off next year wouldn't hurt either.

I'm not a Kurt Bush fan and he should have acted better, but I don't trust cops ether. It would be better if there was a video from the cruiser. Police reports are often one sided, the officer justifying what he did to his boss.

I've been on the receiving end of a cop on a power trip and I'm sure that it's even more so with a celebrity. But I kept my mouth shut and let the lying pig run all the tests he wanted to show I was stone sober. He didn't have anything to get me on so he had to let me go, but I left hating that guy to the day I die.

....greeeeaaaaaat......now NASCAR "stars" are acting like EVERY OTHER sports figure in the world.....

"Look at me...I am invincible....above the law....can treat anybody like trash because I am __________"

I personally HATE this about pro athletes more than ANYTHING.....I doubt Rousch benched him for nothing....EVEN they said "...we are not in the business of being Busch appologists any more...."

Well we will have to see where this goes next yr.

Maybe Nascar needs to give him The Rule book and read the section, "Actions Detremental to the Sport."

I had it in my rule book never had to use it though.!!!!

I got pulled over during a DUI sweep in my work parking lot at 2:00 in the morning, The cop thought I was a strange place to pull into this late. I had a Headache and needed some asprin. Everything was good until my wife, launched in the Parking lot and my wife Saying (In Drunking Voice) "Im sorry to get him in trouble". He checked my Eyes, asked how many beers I had, I said 3 Last one was 10:00. YOU HAD MORE TO DRINK THAN THAT!!! I had to Blow. Oh wait my machine malfunctioned, Other officer just showed up, George can I use your and Blew a 2'nd time. Had some Small chit chat with the officer's, they said they were pulling over people for LP(License Plate Light) and said I wasnt going to be the 8 person arrested tonight and a reading of 000.

Im not a Fan of his, Think he's a Dic* and hope he sits a few races out next yr too. Kurt way to go!!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) :drive: (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/nutkick.gif)

If I was making that kind of money I wouldn't be driving myself anywhere. As much as I enjoy driving, there's just too many cops and I can get myself in trouble plenty fast.

I have alot of respect for the good cops that go out everyday and do one of the worst jobs there is, and most don't get paid very well for it!

But with that said, I grew up in a getto and watch cops break the law more than the criminal's did (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/bs.gif)

It's pretty simple, if a cop can't follow the law better than us, and tell on his own kind, than he/she isn't a very good cop! And that make's them all look bad!

I don't really like Kurt, but when I look at it from a 3rd party view that has been bullied by cops alot (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant.gif) I think the cop was being a(put your own word here)!

It's perfectly reasonable to expect that the cop could have had as big a chip on the shoulder as a "celebrity".

Can't even count how many times I've been harrased by cops. I've had a few run-ins with cool guys, but mostly just harrassment. It definately depends alot on what you drive/how old you are.

We were on vacation in northern MI in early October. I pulled over and was going to do a U-turn and then saw a cop so of course I didn't. He pulled over on the opposite side of the road to see if I needed help.

Now the camaro is setting out on the street a couple weeks later and I get some BS story about how a neibor said they saw me working on an 'Orange' "Race car" that was on crimestoppers. OK well race cars around here are street stock circle track cars. And my car ISN'T orange. But since the car didn't have plates he decided to stop and harrass me. And BTW I've had the Camaro parked their LOTS of times when working in the garage etc, etc.

Also had about 6 cops draw guns on my wife and I. We just got into town from visiting my parents. Apparently someone (someone black not white) robbed the drug store and supposedly had a truck like ours.
Funny story to it is that it was an 87 GMC 2500. Read as no cup holders. I had the one that came to my window set my soda on the hood. When they realized how stupid that was and applogized etc, etc, he walked away. I called him back to my truck as he was at his car door. When he got there I asked for my pop which was still on the hood. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif)

The last place I'd want to mouth off to a cop is Maricopa County. Sherriff Arpaio runs a pretty tight outfit there. When I first heard that the second breathalyzer test failed, I presumed that to be a good deal for Busch. However, as I read more of what happened, I'm sure now that the machine really did fail as I would have done whatever it took to put the punk behind bars for his attitude/ego.

He's pretty good behind the wheel, but I'd vote for Jimmie Spencer first before I'd vote for Busch as favorite driver. At least Spencer's fist didn't break when Busch used his face on it...

i love that comment!

i really don't care at all if Kurt Bush wants to be an asshole to cops... cops have a way of getting in your face when you are in your worst state of mind, and then they tend to act superior..

I agree with Lonnie's sentiment. I've been harrassed by cops waay to much, mostly in my little beater cars b/c they profile for them since they are mostly driven by younger people. I've *never* been pulled over in either my Camaro or Corvette and neither of them have a front plate which is required here in NY. Note that these are the *only* 2 cars I have never gotten pulled over in.

And of course this is why I wouldn't be driving myself anywhere if I was at that level. Unless of course I was in my hometown where there are no cops. =) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Sounds like both parties may have been disrespectful, there's no reason for that. I am reminded of the risk officers go through every day when less than five miles from me about four days ago a California Highway Patrol pulled over a guy for a traffic stop and got shot and killed point blank. There were witnesses and they did catch the guy in less than 24 hrs. How do you think officers get jaded?

It's a viscous cycle. Cops don't get respect for what they do, and they are also, in many cases underpaid. Starting pay for a village officer in my hometown was only 19,000 in 97'. This creates that chip on their shoulder. Many are on a power trip because of the above. Many of us have the attitude that we towards officers.

FWIW that was my intended carreer path. I was headed to college after the first summer off for criminal justice, and then off to accademy. The only way to make money in my state was to work in very dangerous places, well outside of my hometown/family.

Cops around here start at ~$50k. It is a quiet town with not much going on and they love to hassle people. I won't even get into the crap they've pulled on me.
