Jeff my fastime at the Nordschleife is 8min 30 in full boogie. I don't have the skills to drive it any faster . A normal time because of traffic is right a round 9 minutes.

What kind of times do you think a more experienced driver could do with your car? What is your power level, tires, and suspension? Also, what kind of speed do you hit on that long straightaway?

Let me answer one of the questions:
The speed on the straightaway ("Doettinger Hoehe") is hard to say as right in the middle of it is the entry/exit to/from the track. Even when you're doing multiple laps you have to slow down there... at least when you're not doing professional racing there. (if you take a look on my website you can see some pictures of my car on the Nring track)

I love the pics. Is your car totally stock? There's one shot where it looks like the f/r tire is riding on the fender! Is that just before Adenauer-Forst? (I'm looking at my EVO mag for reference).

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Roy!

(Sorry also from me for hijacking, Roy...)

The car indeed looks totally stock.

What I've done is:
Kenny Brown SFCs, ST (Strano 35mm soon to be installed) & 1LE swaybars, Borla exhaust, front Koni & rear Bilstein shocks, Brembo OEM rotors with HP+ pads, Severn brake ducts. No mods to the engine. Drives real nice on the track.

I don't know which picture you mean, just give me the link & I can comment. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hey Ben-

No helmet!? 8:30 seems pretty fast and good for a stock motor and a car with little mods! The new Z06 does 7:40, and old one 7:56? So I wonder what a Z28 with worked suspension, some weight removal, 100 more HP, and some big brakes could do?

Any other Ring times?

Dennis

Oh, on the straight though, are you going like 120, 140, 160?

No helmet required, although (of course) it's sensible to wear one...

I think we have to differ here between measurements of different times:
What Roy posted is a BTG time ("bridge to gantry") as you cannot do multiple laps without slowing down at non-professional racing sessions. Depending on the car you have to add some seconds to that BTG time to compare it to the magazine/racing times (I'd say in the case of the Camaro add maybe 15-18 seconds).

Then, the 8:30 was Roy's best time not mine. Actually I don't have my "best time" in mind. I have a video of myself doing some relaxed (not slow but relaxed) driving which resulted in a time of 9:28. Don't know what would be possible with my car (only 245 KDW street tires!), maybe 8:50-8:55?

On that straight (Doettinger Hoehe) the lap is over so my speed there's maybe 100mph max. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) From the start until the first chicane I achieve about 115mph. I can achieve over 135mph approaching Schwedenkreuz.

More Ring lap times:
I've got a bunch of street car lap times verified by the German sport auto magazine which tests the cars on the track. If you're interested I can scan the page and post it tomorrow...

Makes sense now. Any chance of putting the video online?

Video is quite large and I don't have the proper program to shrink it, but here's the list of lap times (tested by "sport auto" magazine), Hockenheim und Nuerburgring:

(IMG:http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/4930/nringtimes7ln.th.jpg)

"**" means car had street-legal race tires.
