My guess is that this is wishful thinking on Igor Susko's part. Unless these forums can generate big money.
I googled the driver's name and it turned up this: http://www.racenasa.com/results/200_TTStandings.xls Turns out I beat him at Mid-Ohio in NASA TTB in Aug 2004 in my Z28. I wasn't superfast: best was 1:42.3 (w/o chicane). Don't know what he was driving. George E. |

between the Skyline, the Aston Martins and the cast of regulars, should be an interesting season. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Sweet. GT-R's are one of the few Japanese cars that I really like.
As paying for racing it, What else does the web site's owner own that could be supplying money that could be filtered through the site's sponsorship? How much could the driver be bringing? Could they be getting support from Nissan, specially since there will be a new GT-R in the next year or two that will be sold in the US? |

That isn't the current Syline in Japan, that's the older model. The current one is just like the G35 coupe/sedan here. See http://www.nissan.co.jp/EN/lineup.html
I think someone is pulling your virtual leg. |

Yes, but when I was on track with you at Beaver Run a few years back, you WEREN'T exactly one of the slower cars! |

I've been following a thread on a local board for a while but wanted to make sure it was actually true before I posted it here.
Looks like this Skyline is a for sure thing, even have pics of the cars: http://forum.fbody.us/showthread.php?t=40240 |

nape - thanx for confirmation on this.
I've been involved with and crew'd for several Speed World Challange teams since '03, both in GT and TC, and it has been an interesting ride, so far. Chip Herr in the Audis and the Focus, Tom Oates and his tiger stripped Corvettes, Jim Osborn in his BMW and then the GTO and Stu Hayner and his GTO, as well as the immediate help provided to other teams throughout the season. It 's like one big happy family, even amongst competitors. I've know Chris, the car builder that built all of Tom Oates' cars, even before he got into the SWC, and has been with AutoSports Development since the beginning of last season and built the second generation GTOs for Stu Hayner and Jim Osborn. I've been fortunite enough to be able to spend numerous hours (days) in the shop with Chris assisting with the building of several of these cars, as well as customers cars and it has been very rewarding as well as informative. That's my little trip around the block. This post has been edited by PF Flyer: Mar 4 2006, 01:27 PM |

The next GT-R: http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/article/EVENT...0051019/109807/ that's the ugliest damned thing I have ever saw. The back end isn't too bad (rear bumper & taillights), but the rest of it is just awful. |

nape - thanx for confirmation on this. ... That's my little trip around the block. No problem. That's definitely cool to be able to crew for all those teams. I'm going to try to do something similar this year but hopefully I'll be crewing almost every weekend for a buddy that runs dirt late models. Hopefully I'll get my first look at Eldora (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

It's not really that difficult to get into something like that. Just a desire and a small amount of ability. Most efvry team out there needs some help every so often.
I first met Tom Oates back in 1999 at an SCCA Regional race. I was an SCCA Scrutineer (tech inspector) at the race and we had similar cars. Hugger Orange 99 Camaros. His was a Z28 in the T2 class, mine was my daily driver SS. Good luck with the late models. Them and sprint cars are a blast to watch. |
