I'm looking for the name of those "hold-downs" you see on a number of road race cars that hold trunk lids hatches and so forth closed. It's a 2 piece thing with a rubber strap that has a ball molded into it, that is stretched into a "cup" that holds it tight. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Chris thinks you mean the type of latch that holds down the hood of a Jeep Wrangler.

Browse on over to http://www.mcmaster.com and search for draw latch or browse to pge 2822. There are 4 or 5 pages of draw latches, that Jeep type is in there somewhere.

I did a google image search for jeep hood latch, I think this is the thing you're talking about:

There are better solutions for most scenarios. What are you trying to attach, and to what are you trying to attach it? I've spent hours looking at the latches at mcmaster.com to find just the right ones to hold down the rear hatch on the Camaro and to attach the uppoermost corners of the bumper cover. I may be able to provide some insight.

Don't know what you are using them for....they are a little low tech for my taste....but if you want them Pegasus has them in their catalog.

Yep, that's what I was looking for. Need them to help secure the fenders on my trailer once I make the fenders removeable. Crude, but effective. Thanks folks!

I can't say that that mindset has ever failed me before... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
