I've got a customer with a new Z06.... He wants to install a light flywheel in the car. My issue is this: I can't find a specific listing for the LS7. There *are* LS2 flywheels, and while I believe it will work because I know that LS7 clutches and LS2 flywheels bolt up, I don't know for sure if the LS2 flywheel will bolt to the LS7 crankshaft.

In short I'm asking you all if, in your internet travels, if you've seen any information along the following lines:

Will an LS2 Flywheel work with on an LS7?
Does anyone know of an LS7 specific lighweight flywheel?

I realize that we aren't a Vette board, and that none of us have LS7's. But this is the most meticulous group I know of, and you all spend a lot of time surfing, so I think that it's my best bet for outside help.

Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,

Early on the report was that there were separate part numbers for LS2 & LS7 flywheels, as well as not being able to interchange them. That seems to have been turned into a myth because multiple dealers as well as Fidanza say it's the same OEM part.

Fidanza makes a ~13lb flywheel, p/n 198171. They claim they've tested it on both the LS2 & LS7 engines and it works equally well. I mated this flywheel to my LS7 clutch without a problem - other than needing a slave shim to help with the engagement.
