Howdy,

http://www.scca.com/_FileLibrary/File/06-5-fastrack.pdf

Dave lost his appeal. Can't remember if that was posted here or not. Interesting that the CRB or appeals group or whoever apparently talked to a bunch of competition shops and was told that the track number was correct.

The SEB also issued a request for feedback related to Prepared... Cars have forever been able to use the factory OEM wheel without penalty. They now want the weight penalties for alternate wheels to apply to those too...

For instance, used to be that a z06 could run 18x11 wheels on the rear without penalty. If this rule change goes through, they'd need to add 100 lbs of penalty weight.

This, to me, is absurd. A bone stock car running in Prepared should not be getting weight penalties.

Further, I think penalties due to diameter are freaking insane. Competitive tires will remain the 16" slicks they've been (unless someone pops up and starts offering qualifying tires in bigger diameters). Meanwhile everyone with a c5 brake kit or whatever gets all bent because they gotta take a 200 lb (in CP) penalty for their 17" wheels. In Modified, guess which tires everyone runs? That's right... 16" (or smaller), the same as Prepared.

Personally, I'd rather Prepared went to unlimited wheels. Its the last remaning thing in P that's more restrictive than SP. It'd be nice to have that progression completely done.

Write to seb@scca.com if you have an opinion.

18x10.5"...

Also a "bone stock" car should not normally be affected by weight penalties. My car weighs 3050 lbs and I believe the minimum weight for BP is 2800 lbs. However I agree that weight penalties for wheels is absurd. 16" wheels on a Z06 don't fit unless you grind a nub off the spindle. (Yeah I've done a little research). The hot setup would probably be a Danny Popp special with 17" A6's in the rear (335 on 17x11 rims since the rims are cheap) and 315's in the front on the 18x10.5" rims.

Sorry Dave, that just plain sucks. What will you have to do to "fix" the track width.
