i'm looking for a small switch that is a 3 position toggle switch that is ON-ON-ON. i want to be able to switch between 3 temp senders for my auto meter guage's. i'm gonna wire the 3 senders to on side of each of the 3 pairs of pins on the switch, and then connect all of the other 3 pins together and run that side to the guage. i'm having a really hard time locating something local. and i hate to order something cause i cant hold it and do the "eyeball engineering" w/ it. anyone found a good reliable place to find them, or order them from?

I just went to the garage and raided my "stash" from my days as an Avionics Technician. I've got all types of small switches (with lockouts, without lockouts, double throw quad pole, etc) but none of what you need. I have been looking online at the aircraft stores and such and nobody seems to have a triple throw switch that is "on-on-on", they are all "on-off-on". Hmmm. I'll keep looking.....
You may have to consider a rotary switch. Or, a pair of switches (up for oil temp, down for either transmission or rear end temp, using a second switch). That gets a little complicated for the cockpit though. |

Correction, I found a slide switch (I'm guessing that is not what you are looking for) here:
http://www.switchcraft.com/products/switch-288.html and here: http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=da...%20Switches&N=0 |

i know they make the switch i need, as i've found it in a catologe i got from work. problem is, i (allong w/ my work) have never ordered from them. i was hoping to locate something before i have to resort to ordering it.
Trackbird - i myself was an Avionics Tech in the military for 10 years. USMC. i was a bench level tech on Comm/Nav systems for all the USMC aircraft. i wish i had "stocked up" before i got out. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |

Stocked up....
I've got all kinds of neat hardware, breaker switches, buttons, knobs, a box of teflon jacketed wire (scraps up to 8 feet or so long), stainless trim washers, etc. Aircraft "stuff" is about the best stuff in the world for race cars..... I agree, that switch is out there, I thought I had one or two. But, as usual, now that I am trying to locate one, they are nowhere to be found..... |

QUOTE (mitchntx @ Mar 13 2004, 12:10 PM) Well now that explains a lot ... Kevin is one of you, Glenn ... But, I was civilian not military. I've worked on everything from kit planes to 727's (and everything in between, Saberliners, Citations, Conquests, King Air's, etc). I'm not sure if being a "Glenn" is a good thing or not, but I'm sure it could be worse. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
