I finally got my Opti in Monday and installed it.

It was nice to hear it start up again. But it wouldn't idle.
So I changed the drivers side plugs. Still wouldn't idle so I kept it running and burnt out some of the old nast gas on the passenger side plugs.

Will idle just fine. I just need to change the other side and she'll be running like a champ!!

This makes me feel REALLY, REALLY GOOD. Long story short, I've been frustrated lately because my Truck. One busted heater hose fitting (right at the intake no less) and a bad water pump all in one week had me UN happy with my autos.

Glad to hear it's alive again. On a LT1 is there any way to eliminate the opti and use some other form of ignition?

That's a notorious problem with those OBS gm fullsize trucks. Glad to hear you got it back together.

You would need to go to something like an Electromotive EFI/ignition setup. That is the only way I know.

I had a crack in the fitting. I could see where it was leaking. At the time I didn't know it was leaking. As soon as I touched it snap. Right at the intake. That was Wednesday. I owe my father BIG time as he fixed it for me while I was at work.

Friday when I got home, smelled antifreeze, checked and it was pouring out of the WP.
Now that it has been changed I think it was going out for awhile. Some noises went away.

BTW after changing the pump on my truck 97' Vortec, the temp fluctuates. It doesn't really run any warmer than it did before. But it does swing between the before temp, and a little lower.
I was told it could be air in the system. How do I bleed it?

There are a couple differnet options out there now. The LTCC uses the LS1 coils but still uses the Opti's optical pick up as the trigger. That takes the high voltage out of the Opti which is what usually what causes it to fail. DELTQ seems to have a similar solution for their stage1 and then goes to different pick up for their stage 2.

Have you had to replace the intake manifold gaskets yet? The vortec 305 and 350's are known for leaking antifreeze that way. Just run it with the cap off and top off as the air is purged. Least that;s how I've done traditional chevy sb's.
