On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 7th, Jose’ Gonzalez was killed in an automobile accident on south La. Hwy. 3127 after he lost control of his 2006 Dodge Viper. Jose’ spent the day at No Problem Raceway watching the road racing and socializing with his friends and was on the way home to his wife and family. The accident happened just before 5 p.m. after Jose' had just passed two other cars. He was attempting to pull back into his lane when he lost control, ran off the road and hit a ditch, flipping the car upside down in the process. Jose’ was alone in his car, was killed on impact and pronounced dead at the scene. Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor, though excessive speed may have been. He was wearing his seatbelt and the cabin was fairly intact - his body simply could not handle the impact forces.

This picture was taken by Curtis Bosarge about 5 minutes before the accident.

I doubt that anyone here knew Jose, but I thought we may want to just remember those of us that have moved on. This touched our entire racing community across Louisiana. Jose was a friend to old racers and newbies alike. Everyone remembered his affable smile, his quick wit, and his gentle demeanor (outside the car, that is). He was one of the "good guys".
