Howdy,

So, what other choices are there out there for an inexpensive 17x11 wheel? Is there something lighter than these in the $200/ea or under price range?

Mark,

Nothing that I know of. I'm going to see if I can work something out with AFS wheels, but they are not real light either.

There were some custom wheel guys in Florida (I think) who had good prices, but that's been a few years and I forget which company it was. I can see if I can dig the name up.

I think you might be thinking of CCW in Daytona Beach.

....Kevin, Please let me know if you do something through AFS. I'm on the verge of getting some new ones & I live sort a close to them so I could pick 'em up & save on shipping. I've needed wheels for a while now & a good price plus no shipping would probably convince me to do it! Oh, I'd want the chrome ones, probably 4 11x 17's.... Thanks, Bill

AFS are lighter. The 9.5s that I ordered on this GP were about the same weight as the 11s that I got earlier in the year from AFS (same scale, same weighing method). I can't remember the exact weights, but I posted them in the wheel weight thread.

After talking to Sam today is it possible to get (2) 11X17 36mm in silver still or am I too late?

I think I'm going to try 17x11's at all 4 corners and see how the car works.

Thanks in advance.

I can call them again, but my last two calls have gone so well that I can't say I'm in a rush to try to give them money. Early in this thread someone said "it sucks having to work this hard to give someone money" and they are correct. It took them a while to decide that we were serious, but after almost 80 wheels (or maybe a total of 80, I lost count but we're close), they were taking us very seriously. When I called, stuff got done, it was handled, they called me back, etc. Now that the new person has taken over the account, he doesn't seem to care if we spend money there or not. I'm pretty well beyond frustrated with them at this point.

I'll call AFS and CCW, though we may need several orders to get started again..... All I can do is call and see.

Oh, and they don't do 36mm offset at the no longer current vendor, only 50mm.

Kevin, if you arrange a too-good-to-pass-up GP on CCWs now, I am going to have to hurt you. I am going to have to drive up there and hurt you ... right after my probable divorce ... if she doesn't have me committed instead. I mean it (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Actually, that would be really cool, but I would still have to hurt you (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I called CCW today, but the owner wasn't in and I'll have to call back and speak to him. The CCW Classics are $2000 for 4 (retail) and she said the sell them pretty close to cost. The other wheels have a bit more markup, but are more expensive to produce and that I could call back and see what we could work out. I don't know how many of you are up for $2k in wheels, but I'll see what I can do.

AFS isn't open yet. I'll call them later if I get a chance.

I just spoke to AFS and was advised that they could probably give us free shipping, if all wheels shipped to a central address (and would then need to be reshipped). That probably doesn't help much. She said they could work out some kind of a discount on them, and when we were ready to call them and they'd let us know. That makes it a bit difficult to place orders for a GP without having a clue as to the pricing. So, unless I can get better information from them, I think this one is dead.

I'll try to get to CCW on Monday, but I don't know if we could sell enough of them to get much if anything off. They are not cheap, and even with a discount, I don't think they'll be cheap.

Subscribing...I need a set of rims for the next auto-x season, and I completely missed the group buy at the beginning of this thread. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) I'd like to see what other kind of deal we can come up here.

I spoke to CCW and their "Classic" line of wheels are the least expensive ($2,000 a set) and they sell them "near cost", so I don't think we'll get much of a discount.

I'm open to suggestions, if anyone wants to try somewhere else, let me know who and I'll make the calls.

I'm also interested in a 17x11 set GP. but not at $2k a set. I'm thinking about $4-500 a set like the last GP. Too bad I missed it!

I was originally told that we could by wheels "as long as we liked" and keep the discount (we did buy roughly 80 wheels). Then my contact disappeared and the started with the $99 freight (instead of actual) and a $40 charge for "splitting up sets" to buy 4 17x11's, and other stuff. So, it suddenly became just as, or even more expensive to buy them through this gp than it is to just buy them somewhere.

I'd gladly do it if I could, but based on my last two phone calls, it's a dead issue.

Sorry.

Do you mind if I call them and use your name?

I saw they were selling a set of 2 17x11 ZR1 polished with 36mm offset for $325 plus $56 shipping on eBay but when I emailed them for a price for 4 I was hoping it would be like $600 plus $95 shipping or something but they said $750 +$95 shipping. I was like WTF? I could save $100 by buying 2 sets of 2 instead of 1 set of 4!!!

A guy at my local Discount Tire Direct said he could get them to the store for $800 a set of 4. Of course, I'd have to pay sales tax for an in-state purchase so it's about equal to what AFS quoted me.

Summit has these:

I have no idea about the quality or weight of these, but they are in your ballpark pricewise. I can get them from my wholesaler and do a little better on price but shipping from CA would be $155 so would eat up your savings and more.
