The Hot Lap timer went away with the last car sold, and my wife is bugging me to put something "affordable" on my Christmas list. (I didn't think the 4-post lift and T2R were THAT unreasonable) No complaints about the Hot Lap ... well, there was one time when it seemed like about a dozen guys had set up beacons ... but I'm drawn to the simplicity of a GPS based lap timer. When I search for different possibilities, I just find $1000+ models that record every variable imaginable. Does anyone know of a "basic" GPS timer system out there for, say, under $500 that just times laps? Future expansion to full data acquisition would be great, but at this point I just want lap times. |

Hmm ... lots of silence ... pretty eloquent answer. A little different angle, then: best price I've been able to find on a GPS enabled data system is $832 at Jegs for the MSD G2X Racepak. Any better deals out there? Anyone using something else they like better? Might wind up with a $5 stopwatch for a while longer. |
