Yep, here is an opportunity to start the race and track season in good form: Nice red calipers and they are pre loaded with PFC race pads.

If you put these on, you'll understand what makes the 996TT such a killer on the road courses.

$2,195.

Planning on running some aluminum hat rotors? I'd be in for a set if the price drops some from what we last discussed.

Would love to have something like this - but it would kill the budget....

I thought the same until I went into turn one at Summit very hot. The brakes faded. Wow. What a feeling!!! I sprung for the brakes the next Monday. High grade parts vs a lot of body work. I'm not an engineer, but I can do simple math.

Yeah, I had some fade during my HPDE this past Saturday. Am only running a HPS pad, so I'm looking in to a track pad/rotor combo.

I hear you on the math thing....may need to see if I can get Christmas for 2007/8/9 a little early...Mrs. Santa Claus is not against safety! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

C5 brakes are false economy compared to 996TT brakes. There was a time where I would kill a set of NAPA C5 rotors and a pair of Carbotech XP's in a weekend. A heavy car with some horsepower and fat tires is hard on brakes. After swapping to 996TT brakes, the rotors and PF 01's have three weekends, and are just broken in.

Mitch got 10 or 11 weekends on a used set from Kevin's car. These brakes will pay for themselves over time, not counting the time they will save you wrenching on the car.

I have a set from Steve... and what really sold me on the 996's was Mitch...

It came down to kind'a what Chuck said.. I put the setup on the car, and I've never had to really even think about the brakes. I went with ferodo pads and after 9-10 events I still have about 50% of the pads left.

Hands down, one of the top 2 or 3 mods I've done to my car.
