F-Body Road Racing and Autocross Forums _ General Discussion _ The wife ain't happy

Her "new" Mazda's AC has stopped working and she is not a "windows down" kind of person.

Still under warranty, but there are literally hundreds of complaints from Maxda CX7 and Mazda6 owners who have found themselves without AC between 25K and 35K miles.

Ours is at 23,000. dry.gif

Just venting ...

My mazdaspeed 6 hadn't had any problems the whole time I owned it. You'd have to ask Marcin if that's changed (RedHardSupra), he purchased it from me. That really does suck. Any idea what failed? Did it just leak or did the compressor or compressor clutch die?

Posted by: mitchntx Aug 4 2009, 01:38 PM

I believe the compressor has taken a dump. Its making a God-aweful noise, like mulitple loose parts.

It appears to be isolated to a few model years, with 07 being the last.

Did I mention the wife is not happy?

Mitch, perhaps you could appease your wife with a pet mouse.

So much for the "imports are built better" theory. On my aunts 07 Toyota Yaris, the radio stopped working, and it's not the fuse.

Ha, I bought 4 brand new VW's (3 2000's and 1 2004) and all of them spent more time in the shop than my 2002 Z28 or my 2007 Chevy pickup. Heck, my Mazda Protege 5 ("her" Mazda...) had the clutch replaced due to chatter on cold days at only 25k miles (under warranty). The Camaro was never in the shop, the truck had a leaking oil seal. Though the truck has a warped rotor that they won't cover now...

Besides Mitch, it's not like it's hot where you live. Tell her to relax, it's not so bad... smile.gif

Chester da Mouse ... <shudder>

Its a LOT cooler today. Only supposed to get to 102 ...

Let me be 100% clear ... my wife is NOT happy!

Can't you just find an adapter to plug your cool suit into the cig lighter?

Problem solved.

Posted by: 00 Trans Ram Aug 4 2009, 04:49 PM

OK, so - the A/C is out in your car.

But, is your wife happy?

Posted by: mitchntx Aug 4 2009, 05:09 PM

The shirt is blue ... blue isn't her color. But thats a heckuva idea ...

Matthew ... funny you should ask ...

too expensive ... cheaper to buy a new AC
Plus, once this one is gone, no replacement necessary.

Correction ... Nissan VERSA ...

She gets the car and is driving home. Low fuel light comes on.

Pulls into a gas station to add a quart of fuel and the fuel door won't open. The lever just flops in the breeze.

She does make it home and calls the service department and decides to go on a rampage, discussing the ancestry and heritage of the loaner car dood along with explaining, in some detail I might add, three different auto-erotic actions they could perform, either independently or as a group.

Once she explains to me what is going on, we walk out to this magnificant piece of engineering art and she points out the lever to open the gas door. I pull on the gas door lever and the gas door pops open.

I smirk, not trying to hide it at all, walk to the front, relatch the hood and ask if there is anything else I can help her with?

She was not happy and I had Swanson's frozen for dinner.

you could always add an extra to supplement...if she's anything like the women in my family she might object to the "engineering" ph34r.gif

All very good suggestions ...

Posted by: mitchntx Aug 5 2009, 02:44 PM

You know, you just can't make this kind of stuff up ...

Update ...

Enterprise called early this morning and "discussed" the situation with my wife.

They offered to replace the vehicle and she decided she would take them up on their offer ... they suggested a hybrid.

The guy at the lot was going through the boot and log-on sequence of just starting the car when it failed multiple times. I figure its Mac based.

I'm telling you ... I'm not making this up.

The wife suggested something more conducive to her needs, like turning a key, it starting and occasional access to the fuel tank ...

She is now styling behind a 2007 Silverado ... it is Texas, afterall.

The wife is now happy.

Mitch,

I still have a guest room available in Ohio if you need it. You're always welcome (and Midnight has been relocated, so you're safe too)!!!!

Heck, if I were you, I'd have just bought her a truck... smile.gif

Never a dull moment at Warren Motorsports Complex

Posted by: mitchntx Aug 6 2009, 06:55 PM

Update:

CX7 back at home with new design compressor
There is an opening at Enterprise for an entry level customer service rep

Wife is again happy ... except ...

She liked driving the Silverado ... now I'm not happy.

The Mazda is still rockin' hard. 43k miles on it's first year anniversary of purchase, not a problem yet. Put new tires and did alignment on it. Put in a different shifter so the metal ring wouldn't burn my hand every time I go to lunch on a sunny day. If AC died in SC's summer, the car would be sold about 3 seconds later. Trackbird delivered as always, no surprise there--thank you!

Glad to hear you're still having fun with it. Some days I really miss that car...
