93-02 CAMARO/FIREBIRD BATTERY TRAY

The battery tray is made of powder coated mild steel with stainless steel hardware for excellent abrasion, and acid resistance. It and sits on top of the coolant tank in the original location, and the installation is easy with basic hand tools, drill, and a grinder or file. The hold down hook is steel to improve durability over the plastic OEM part, and is available in red or black powder coat.

I think a lot of people are relocating the battery to the back for better weight distribution.

I use a metal 90* battery hold down bracket that ties into the OEM battery tray mount using a bolt, not sure how my existing bracket would be compatible with your tray, unless you sell or include a tiedown bracket also? I still have my original battery tray, never incurred any leakage or damage.

I also use a top bracket that goes from a headlight bolt down to the original bracket bolt. It's easy, secure, evident that it's on or not. I have an AGM battery so I do not worry about leaking honestly.

I'm really liking this piece especially for the price ! ... I also use a fabricated "top" mount bracket, but I think I may add thisnintomthe mix to "metal sandwich" the battery (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Is that the Year One piece, or something fabbed up to function just like it??

I use an Odyssey/Die Hard Platinum 34/78 oversized AGM battery (Sears stopped carrying our stock, 75/25 size version of this a while ago), which takes up EVERY little millimeter of the available room on top of the coolant overflow tank (I had to bend the AC pipe to fit it, until I delete my whole AC system), so I do not think I could even use this bracket at all.

It looks good and is a good concept. My plastic tray had the one side break off.

I went to a 15 lb AGM and custom made a plate similar, but to mount the smaller battery sideways and made a power distribution set up to avoid all the wires on the posts.

I hated the idea adding 18lbs to move 35 lbs. Instead this removed 18lbs.

Is that all the 2 gauge positive welding wire weighs for the length from the rear passenger wheel well to the starter/front junction??

0 gauge cables, battery box, hold down set up, etc. Plan was to mount it on the drivers side rear. So a little more cable than the usual.

Yes it's the year one piece. For $45 or whatever I paid I thought I should have just bent some metal myself. The battery I have is an Optima red top 75-25. I'd like to get a Deka sometime but not sure if a lower power battery is right for me, that will require some mounting fab also.

Yes, most who want this setup seem to just bend up some steel, or alloy flat stock and drill some holes in it.
