Some friends of mine are racing overthere that weekend(I belive thats the dates need to confirm) and I have been invited over to have a drive of one of friend's 65 Mustang, very tempting and looking into flights now. Any members going to be there?

My friend Cliff has just generously offered me a few laps of free practice in the Mustang during the week and the organiser is clearing it now, man what and opportunity for a guy from the UK to drive this iconic circuit. I am really looking forward to this one!

I'd love to get down there to see you guys, but I'm tied up already. Sounds like you'll have an excellent time. And there are plenty of tracks in England that many of us would love to drive. Guess it works both ways. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Have fun and be safe!

Thanks Kevin there are some good circuits here as well in fact I have talked to Bernie who organsies the trips to the US and also the flegling V8 series and he has some great tracks lined up for next year so if any of you have 2nd or 3rd gens and you fancy getting them over for one of these speak to Bernie he is Der Man! BTW I have been advised to take out the insurance (health and injury only) for while I am on the track which is a bit expensive at about $150 but I guess its a wise precaution although I wont actually be racing. Its not mandatory I don't think.

I wasn't even aware of this race but I'm only an hour away in Orlando so I may come over and spectate on Saturday or Sunday. Let me know if there is a way to look you up when you're here. I've driven the Daytona 24 hour course once and it was one of those tracks that was on my bucket list. I think Sebring is more fun but everyone needs to drive Daytona at least once. The high banks are a real hoot the first time you pull on to them.

I would invest in the medical coverage just because of the speed that you'll see. Last time I was there for an SCCA event I spoke with an A Sedan third gen Camaro driver and he was seeing around 155 mph at the start finish line.

Hope to be able to see you there.

My mates name is Cliff Ryan so he will be on the entry list so easy to find, its a black Mk 1 Mustang notch back. His son Dan is also having a race but I will only be going out in untimed practice during the week then will switch to spanner man duties. Please come over and say hi. I'll get the insurance for what its worth. Oh BTW Sebring is on the agenda for next year!

Panos sold Mosport this year to a group that includes Ron Fellows. Upgrades are currently in work.

Well it was all going smooth, got as far as Boston and have been stuck here with a plane with dodgy landing gear for the last three hours, this sucks.

Got here at last had a lovely view of the iconic raceway as the plane had to bank steep and hard over the airfield after the landing was aborted as some small plane sneaked in first or something. Have hired a 300bhp Burn orange 5000mile 2011 Camaro I upgrade from a Nissan thing for just $20 a day extra, only in America, brilliant!

Sounds like you're going to have a great time Al! I was going to mention that the airfield is right next door to the track, they couldn't get much closer.

Well I got to do a 20 minute untimed session on the iconic circuit, the car didnt fit my bulk too well and I was very uncomfortable plus the guy who was gonna take me round for a couple of familiarisation laps got stuck in gear so I was on me own in a car I had only just sat in for the first time on this 160mph banked circuit. I made the cardinal sin on the first lap and slipped below the yellow, the man was right yer don't wanna go there, frightening or what I really had to wrestle the bitch back up onto the banking. The brakes were aweful and I overshot the bus stop but git into it after a few laps learning to just nail it round the banks flat out and brake much earlier than I ever would in my Camaros. Anyone else driven this circuit. My mate did OK and put in the fastest lap in class and won the historic class. His son managed to find the tyre wall so we had to kick the sheet metal out and raced it again today.

Back home now, was an interesting experience seeing how you guys do things, interesting to note it seems you are playing to the similar 'One man and his dog' crowds that we are getting overhere now only the dogs are banned! Was some good racing unfortunately my mates son managed to put the old mustang into the tire wall, thank the lord it wasnt me!!! I straightened it out with some willing helpers and got him out again bit it needs all new frontend sheet metal, shame. Mind you my mate knocked 2 seconds a lap off his best time with the big 'ammer modifications!!!! There were several 4th gens out there and one I think was to be driven by a young english guy that had just won the BMW Mini Challenge overhere. The Liddell car I think someone was saying.
