It's time for me to say adios to my winter beater.
My 2 contenders are:
2015 Subaru WRX Sport Tech package
2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart Premium package

Any opinions ?
I did not consider the STI/Evolution due to price gap and i only want a winter beater that has some fun to drive.
I definitely don't want a fwd boring car.

2015 as a beater?

Why not get an STI that's a few years old?

Of the original two, I'd spend my money on the WRX. I have nothing to substantiate it, but I think it would be a better quality car than the Mitsubishi.

New subaru products are getting better and better every year. Of those two, the subaru is a clear choice. Mitsubishi products seem like they are stuck in the 90's quality wise. I see both brands of cars often at work.

I just bought a 2014 WRX hatch and I love it. The hatch makes an amazing tire hauler.

mitsu is out of equation...
they only offer handicapped transmission on the ralliart... i want a manual tranny
so i ordered a wrx fully loaded... now to know that the 1 left still on the boat coming from japan, just had been sold.
so f*** it... STI winter beater it is.
tried the s4... lots of fun... but damm it's $$$
just hope i don't regret getting a sti as a DD over the wrx.

My guess is that even though he did not state it as a requirement, Eugenio needs/wants AWD for the northland winters?

I personally would have waited for the coming Focus RS AWD if I were spending STI coin already. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

AWD was 1st choice... Ats manual is only rwd.
I thought about it... But not gonna wait 6+ months... And might be harder to fit my 3 kids vs sti... STI has good trunk... Focus is not sedan... Wife hates hatches... Although I gave her a rav4 v6 without the rear wheel.

Anyways... Now waiting for the car. ETA at dealer is 29 may.
One thing I forgot to mention was " new "... Not used car

At least the beater will have some fun factor... And not too much of a slouch.
Especially compared to 1k+ hp almost stock SS

I think you'll be quite pleased with the STI -- pretty track-capable sedan even in stock trim.
