I want to add another set of aftermarket driving lights on the front of my 2001 2500HD Silverado, and add a set of fog lights in the rear, perhaps on a bracket that is attached to the receiver. My stock alternator is 105 amps. Can I swap in a 130 amp alternator with no other electrical system changes? The main reason for the extra lights up front is to increase visibility on trails/dirt roads when I'm returning from hunting areas after sunset.

TIA

Rob

I think it maybe the same one to fit your truck, but I have a truck 155amp alternator on the Firebird.

You could also start switching out all the stock incandescent bulbs for LEDs to reduce the load on your stock alternator. They use like 1/10th the power.

I just did that with my boat. The volt gauge doesn't budge now even if I turn all the lights on at the same time.

Interesting, hadn't thought of switching to LEDs. Will look into that.

www.superbrightleds.com

If that isn't the web address, google it. Those guys are great. Every type of light you could imagine, and very reasonable prices.
