OK people...I know someone has had this issue.

I installed a Repair Right Rear wheel bearing in order to get the car home from SCCA solo nationals...I now have a new axle, new bearing and wheel seal ready to go in the car but I cant get the old one out.

Slide hammer + bearing puller = broken bearing puller at the moment.

Other than taking apart the other side and removing the diff in order to run a big freakin piece of pipe in and beating it out the other side...any suggestions???

I might try to heat up the axle tube with a torch to loosen things up....but then i got to get another bearing puller.

Any ideas?

You could break the bearing apart and get it out in pieces. I ended up doing this when the slide hammer kit that I was using didn't have the proper attachment.

Sounds like a great reason to use the "regular" rear wheel bearings and not the "repair" bearings which are wider and are meant to compensate for a groove in the axle.

Yep it is..but as you know I had to drive the car home =( if the new axle only came in a day earlier...

I think the car is still cursed from when Greg put those damned LOST numbers on the side.

Oh, well then I'll probably not buy them. Were they OTC? Most of the OTC stuff is copied by a low end Chinese brand.

The internal 3jaw has been working fine for me.

I use the kit that blainefab posted in the first pic also. Only I've had good luck using the single hook attachment in the lower left-hand corner of the photo. Set the hook into the backside of the bearing, and stick the handle of a wooden-handled hammer in the hole just above the hook. Push up on the hammer with left hand, (this puts pressure on the hook and won't let it jump off) and work the slide hammer with the right hand. It's worked for me every time.
