i have the stock leather seats in my 94. in the quest for some weight reduction and some increased feel, im considering getting a set of these seats. does anyone have any experience with them? if you think these are a decent choice, would you get the 10* or 20* layback?

I'm pretty sure those are for drag racing. I have the Kirkey Deluxe Roadrace seat, which is a bit expensive, but much safer and more supportive if you are involved in a wreck. If you plan to goto the track, a decent seat will help you concentrate on driving along with 5 or 6-pt belts.

I have Kirkey economy layback seats....I thought the layback was 18 degrees for some reason, but it was probably the 20. This seat is a legacy item from my last race car....given the choice now....I would DEFINATELY upgrade....

I agree, that the Roadrace seat would be a MUCH better choice, but if you are using this on the street, and are going from COMFORTABLE leather to either seat, I would NOT recommend it...they would quickly become a PITA that is not worth it on a street car IMHO....

Mike.

My mechanic and I made custom mounts out of box and plate aluminum welded up. It was kind of a PITA with both sides requiring different mounts. I have a 6pt. roll bar now. They are a tight fit with that (I'm 130 lbs). I used a 15" on my side and barely fit a 16" on the passenger side. They are more comfortable than you'd think. I drove it to work and back a month or so ago (100 mile round trip) and the suspension was more annoying.

Mike - be sure to sit in the seat before buying it. The Kirkey economy laybacks have "wings" (chest protectors) that will hit you in the wrong place if your torso is not long enough. They hit me in the wrong place and I had to drive like a "chicken" with my elbows out and up in the air! If you are a tall guy this is not a worry at all. I am not short (5-8"), however, women do not have as long of torsos as men.

Yikes... im 5'8" as well. I will be sure to try out this seat (or any seat I consider, for that matter) first. Thanks for the warning.

I know <smacks head>, but my it was my anniversary with my gf and skipping out to save $40 probably would not have gone over well with her!

Email the organizer and book the dyno to get some numbers on your cart. I heard there aren't to many on the dyno this year.
