...it was the spring time when the general population had a rise in hostility and anger. that's what i remember in high school at least.
fall semester: couple fights maybe
spring semester: quite a few fights expected

perhaps its the undeniable coming of the winter months and car racing hiatus that has brought on this keyboard screaming and yelling.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

as i'm sure many have noticed, there seems to have been an onslaught of bickering and fine-tooth combing of board members' thoughts and ideals which have lead to bitterness and sour attitudes in general. The overall feeling of not being heard correctly, not getting certain points across, and being blamed for this and that has made its presence quite clear.

i aim to not point out anyone in specific so as not open another opportunity for an argument. and i also hope that since i am such an unknown to basically everyone, that it will be impossible to get personal. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

all i know is that i've learned something from every single person on this board, whether you know it or not. i don't reply to posts all that much because i'm too busy trying to gain information, and don't have much to return. somewhat of a leach, if you will.

something that comes to mind is that we're all here because of some level of love for the sport of auto racing....that, in itself, brings up emotions because love is personal. we cherish it, at least to some degree, and at times will react sourly and protect our "baby" from that which poses a threat....such as at this point in time: verbal bashing/miscommunication.

i know its easier for me to say certain things considering i'm outside the box of everything going on. but i can't stand to think that those under fire here aren't able to take a step back and obtain a better perspective to both what they've said and what others are trying to get across.
the internet is a fabulous place to be misinterpreted. and i feel that we all should keep that in the front of our mind's before jumping on the defensive side and retaliating.

this is a sport we all love. let's try not to hate on each other for being passionate towards it....

I nominate Lucas for the prestigeous FRRAX "keepin' it real" award.

Glenn and I will be in Houston Friday to scavenge parts for the new fleet of CMC cars we're building.

Free for lunch? I'm buying!

I went to a Catholic HS and we got expelled for fighting. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) I take your exclusion as a personal attack and I am deeply offended. [/internet poster w/feelings on sleeve mode]

I think it was Linus Torvalds that said "On the Internet, no one can hear you being subtle."

This is also a competitive, passionate, knowledgable bunch. We have a common passion, and we will argue for it, no matter what. The good part is that in such exchanges, a lot of truth comes out. There was a chinese proverb about 'if you're looking for an honest opinion, don't ask a friend' which makes a whole lot of sense here. The bad part is that it takes a lot of time, webspace, and effort to get to these truths sometimes.
I personally loved the sam vs lgm arguments, learned a whole boatload from these. The point was achieved, the knowledge is laid out for the people to read, think over and decide for themselves. Now the problem is, does it always have to be so long, personal, and painful?

I've gotten into plenty of arugments over tuning with people on ls1tech. sometimes their opinions are just directly opposing mine, other times, ppl just refuse to read stickies and ask the same damn question for the N-th time. I was getting irritated with these, but once I came down, I thought to myself: what is it going to achieve if i just chew them out or tell them to use the search button/read the stickies? In the end, it's about making information out of data. Arguments are data. Writeups/Howtos are information.

At least as tuning is concerned, the ratio of signal to noise is really bad. ( as an example of how far it goes, I just found an article in chevy high performance telling the masses to use maf/ifr to arbitrarly adjust for lack of clue on how to tune ve.) So I swallowed my ego, and typed in the same answer for the N+1'th time in a row. Why? to improve that signal to noise ratio.

It's easy to get lost in emotions, bickering, brag rights, ego trips, etc... but think about The Big Goal. The Learning. We're here to bounce ideas off each other, to post disoveries, to verify theories. So in the long run, if you look at the content of the board, do we want few more sets of 7 page discussions on bumpstops or coilovers, or these few clear posts with nice pictures and clear instructions helping out everyone?

Can we settle it while having some fun, like with a Sam vs Blaine vs LGM vs whoeverelse race to settle it once for all? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
