Over the weekend I took the Camaro out to the Midwest Musclecar Challenge (www.midwestmusclecarchallenge.com/).

I had a blast, however I now am much more humble about my driving ability.

I have the power, I have the brakes, now I am ready to begin improving the suspension on the Z.

This, is where you guys come in.

Usage
Street - 1-2 times a month to work or cruises
Track - 3 or 4 track day events per year
Autocross - occasionally

Details about the car:
1991 Z28 hardtop

LS1/T56 Stock rear with 3.42 posi
C5 corvette front brakes, factory 91 z rear disks (HP+ pads and ATE superblue fluid)
weld in subframe connectors
Spohn tubular K-member

Suspension
boxed rear control arms
solid panhard bar
Factory 91 Z28 front and rear swaybars (not sure of size)
Eibach sportline springs (fronts cut 1 coil to level ride height after LS1 transplant)
no name shocks and struts from prior to 2003 when I bought the car.

Wheels/ tires
18X8 (245/40/18) front 18X9.5 (285/35/18) rear street tires. 200 treadwear

Be aware, I am not a rich man. changes only come slowly when I can scrape together extra cash. I need a priority list to tackle for best bang for the buck.

Questions:
1) I know I should replace the shocks/struts. should I jump straight to double adjustable or is there a less expensive option that will help?
2) Have I totally screwed myself up by cutting the coils on the Sportlines? What rates should I target?
3) Should I skip coils and struts and convert to coil overs?
4) Can I have a good setup for both track day and autocross without changes?

I am planning on a busy May.

I will be at the 2014 National F-body Event (May 16th & 17th), but since I haven't had the car out to play in well over a year, I am also planning to attend the Midwest MuscleCar Challenge as a warm up event.

Anyone else interested? Looks like a ton of fun.

Now if I can get the garage about zero, I need to get out and start crossing off the huge prep list.

We are for sure having the Fbody event in Indy this year.

Our 2009 National F-body event will be held on May 14th, 15th, 16th, at the O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis.

We are down attendance this year due to the economy, but that just means insane amounts of track time for speed junkies.

Go to www.fbody-event.org and sign up for something, even if it's just to spectate. It really is a blast.

I realized as I was driving home from a recent car show (first time I've driven the car since September) that I have developed a significant driveline vibration in the camaro. need to figure this out and fix it before this years track days start for me (April/ May). Here is some background:

1991 Z28
LS1
T56
Stock driveshaft
Stock Rearend

Vibration happens only when on the gas (most noticable cruising at highway speeds). Take foot of the gas and the vibration goes away.

All I can think of is that I converted the T56 from a LT1 style to a LS1 style when converting to the LS1 motor. It didn't have this problem right after completing the swap, but I'm sure it's probably developed over time (I don't drive the car much).

I can't rule out anything yet, but It's unlikely to be the driveshaft or rearend since those are about the only thing left in the car that are stock and original.

Suggestions?

I was watching Nascar the other day and started thinking about the fancy pit boxes all the teams have. I've been tossing around the idea of getting a small trailer to haul behind my car when I drive to open track days, big car shows, and auto-x events. So now I'm considering building or adapting a small utility (4x6) trailer as a "track day trailer"

4x6 utility trailer
provisions to mount track rims
jack
Tool box
Chairs
EZ up
Cooler/ grill (I have one of those fire and Ice things they sold a couple years ago)
Air tank
etc
etc

I'm also probably looking at selling my truck since It sits 90% of the time at $4.00 per gallon, so the trailer would also see use as the "Home maintenance and Lowe's trip" trailer, and possibly to haul a 4 wheeler.

So has anyone else done something like this? Post descriptions, Pictures, and lessons learned if you have.

Thanks
