Got the car on the mustang dyno and got the tune ironed out. The intake manifold/throttle body is now a restriction as we watched the manifold pressure drop more and more as the rpm increased on the runs.

Run before smoothing was 247 whp 268 tq, it's got a good bit of torque for a little V6. Up from 169 whp and 184 tq when it was mostly stock. Fuel pump died a few days after this, dodged a bullet there. Almost done with the E85 system. The engine did what a stock LS1 did on the same dyno. She's a cruel mistress.

That is an impressive little 6. I've enjoyed following this project as it's certainly something different. And the results have been far better than I expected.

Thanks (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The local PCA Auto-x event was on the ropes, but it looks like it's going to make it back with a full schedule this year. I'm hoping to make it to mineral wells this summer for the CAM invitational as well.

I'm impressed! I can't believe how good it sounds. How much less does it weigh?

Not sure as the engine might be 80lbs less than the LS1 and it's all behind the steering rack, have a tubular k-member and all that. Need to get it on the scales, our shop has that so I can go all Terry Fair on it (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well, if you had actually gone Fair on it, ALL the parts you pulled off would have been weighed, as well as the parts you installed. So, you got some 'splainin' to do there. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif)

I mean, if you're gonna do it, do it Fair!!

Yeah, guilty as charged. I do love the in depth stuff he does though, don't get me wrong. But yeah, gonna get it weighed, gonna see how things go on the koni/stranos with 275 BFG Rivals, gonna try and get some seat time at the local PCA events and maybe the CAM event at Mineral Wells. The car had good balance last time, but that was on an adj. phb and now I'm running a Watts link.

Have you considered running a smaller, lighter wheel/tire? I think it'd be kinda cool to make that thing as light and fast as possible. With less hp and tq, it might be faster with less tire.

Indeed. Wheel weight is big, and I'd bet on something without 1000 HP would see notable performance gains with lighter wheels/tires. That, though, gets expensive.

Yeah the 275s are where Strano said I'd be golden and the 315s might be a bit too much. I'll be running some 20lb wheels 18x10.5s as anything lighter would be pretty expensive and have to go custom.

Yeah it's hard to beat the size vs weight of those wheels. But I wonder what the difference in weight is once the tires are mounted between what you're going to run and something like an 18x8 with like a 255 wide tire. Might not be that much of a difference, really. Idk

I'm just trying to spend your money, really. Really cool project though. Can't wait to see more.

definitely sounds pretty cool (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)
loved the rev limiter at the end

Haha yeah, I covet the GS1R's but not the price they come at. There are some things I'd like to do that would lighten the car but still retain streetability/livability. Speed glass rear insert, get rid of stock metal hood, etc.

Nah, already covered that, just ask my wife, she'll agree (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Anyway, testing out the induction noise from the intake side. Using an external mic tied into the gopro up front.

Got my "trackday, bro!" wheels/tires mounted.

Here's hoping I can cut loose for the CAM invitational at Mineral Wells towards the end of June.

wheels look great. i've been looking at them for a while myself. Those are the FF2's correct? Seems more concave then I've seen. I know the FF4's don't come in 5x120

Wheel/tire combo look good! Don't forget to mark them on the inside so you can tell if a tire rotates on a rim from hard braking. Looks like they lubed them up pretty good during mounting.

Oh, I so *want* a set of wheels like that (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) - Trying hard not to go all envy on this topic... Those looks like they will be stellar.
