I just got a new EVO RS.

My other car is 95 Z28.

Quite a difference between the two.

The Evo makes the Z28 feel like a caddy, very brutal suspension over broken up pavement.

Low gearing 3500 rpm at 75. Got 24mpg running at 70-75 on the highway. Not that much better than a Z28.

Sure likes to eat bugs, the bottom breather of the Z28 is a nice feature around all of the grass hoppers.

Very high grip and quick turn in, fast steering.

lots of power from about 3000 rpm, feels like it would take the LT1 pretty easily at least up to 100 or so.

I think the Z28 has the edge in aerodynamics at highway speeds and greater.

Still getting used to the EVO, so I have not pushed it really hard yet, first 600 miles under 5k rpm. Revs to 7k now that I am past 600 miles.

Smooth reving engine, AWD not very noticeable but it has an active center diff and in corners you can feel it working some.

I think some new shocks, Bilstein would be nice. Some people are converting stock struts to KONI DA. I imagine that would cost cubic dollars.

The bilsteins that fit it are a high dollar adjustable type, or they make an OEM Bilstein for the MR version.

So far the only mods are a radio and speakers.

Anybody want a 95 LT1 with C5 Brakes 1LE stuff and Koni DA's?

I guess the new Camaro is too late for me, best of luck with it though. I hope Chevy keeps the weight down like others have pointed out.

Hi,

Is it just me or is this one of the worst cars they have ever built? The SSR was just as pointless but slight better looking rig.

The HHR is a stretched PT cruiser.

Andy Dick and a cast of losers wasted at least 15 minutes of the nations time with a lame stupid mega ad sketch thing.

Leno, whom I normally like, prosituted the Tonight show for the stupid ad sketch.

If you just build a car that doesn't suck, you don't need a 20million dollar ad to try and sell it. The group that produced the SSR and now the HHR needs to be fired now.

Toyota is likely laughing their ass off at this huge blunder.

How could the same company build the Z06 and this piece of crap?

Sorry just had to vent.

FYI,

SLP has a clearance price on their bilstein and koni da shocks.

Koni $949.00

Bilstein $299.00

Saw this posted on Camaro Z28 and checked it out. Seems real, not a mistake.

Could save you couple hundred bucks, if they don't leak.

I installed a VFN flat fiberglass hood on my camaro.

The bare stock steel hood weight was 44.5 lbs.

The bare fiberglass hood weight was 34 lbs.

The weight savings was only 10.5 lbs

The weights were measured with a digital bathroom scale. With me holding the hood each time and my weight subtracted out.

The VFN site lists the hood weight as follows.

'93-97 Stock flat Bolt On Hood (with or without vents).Price=360.00 Weight=18 Ship: Truck Freight.

The stock steel hood weight checks with other sources, so I am reasonably confident in the scales.

So it would appear that the weights that VFN gives are a wild ass guess.

The hood is a good quality piece and the fit is good after I redrilled the upper hood brackets. The rear of the hood is way too high without redrilling the hood brackets. Also had to dremel areas around the hinges to get clearance

The front edge of my stock steel hood was rusting through and the area is prone to hail storms, so I am happy with the hood even though the weight is much greater than they listed by around 16 lbs.

Moral of the story is for weight reduction go with a pin-on hood or perhaps carbon fiber and weigh the hood before you install it.

I am thinking about buying a new hood for my 95 LT1.

With the high cost of fuel and the bulky size of a hood. Shipping is very expensive.

I did some measuring and a stock hood might fit in the camaro hatch with the back seat down.

The Lt1 hood is shorter from front to back than it is wide, so if you turn it 90 degrees and point the front of the hood toward the left or right fender it should fit. Due to the odd shape I don't know how it would ride or if the hatch could be closed.

Has anyone tried this with a stock or nearly stock hood?

Will it fit with the seat down and the hatch closed?

Thanks
