I've been asked to complete the build of a friend's 1990 'vette. It has now been caged by a local expert and it has serious performance with a Dart-blocked SBC with 540 HP. Did I mention it is about 2 feet shorter than a stock-bodied C4? It's body has been crafted by a CF expert to remain true to the original shape, but it is now MX5-sized! The owner can fit nicely inside the car, but my bulky 6' will not. And it currently has a small fuel tank of about 6 gallons. He had used it as an AX-only car until now. Somehow I will have to find space for as much fuel as possible, and still get it certified by SCCA.

It will need at least 30 minutes at an average race fuel consumption estimated with BSFC of .6 LB/BHP*HR. although real world numbers may be quite different.

So, here are my initial jots on a napkin... .6 BSFC X 540 BHP = 324 LB / 2 = 162 LB / 6 LB/Gal = 27 Gallons!

I will receive the car in a few days and then the tape measure gets warmed up...

Does Fuel Safe or ATL make custom tanks with SFI approval? Are multiple-cell tanks legal?

I bought my 2" spacers new years ago from a long lost contact, and during a wheel change at my last race we managed to mangle one wheel mounting stud thanks to a powerful impact gun and an overly zealous crewman.

I have a race weekend in 2 days, and need at least 1 of these studs which apparently are custom made for this adapter, as I've turned the whole town upside down trying to find one!

If anyone out there has a spare stud or a 2" adapter (used or new) with at least 1 good stud in it, please let me know.

I'm willing to pay whatever it takes if I can get it in my hands before Saturday! Overnight to Sumas WA 98295 via FedEx or something?

Fingers crossed here... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

The good part: I'm confirmed to run my good old TA in GT1 & ITE at the SCCA Double Regional at Laguna Seca on April 12-14 and the hotel is confirmed for the wife and me in Monterey. The car is ready and I certainly am too!

But: My long-time crew have all had various issues with vacation-time schedules and unless the Canadian Navy let's my son-in-law abandon ship in mid-Pacific, I will be looking for a volunteer or two so that I can stay on track for at least a majority of the possible 10 sessions over the 2 days of racing. I also plan to be out there on the Friday practice day, although that's no biggie.

So... I'm canvassing the N. California bunch on here to see if one of you (or a young/able gear head?) would like to work for food on that weekend! While we take racing seriously, if its not fun we don't do it. It will be a lot more fun with at least one helpful crew member.

I am planning what has become an annual trip from Vancouver BC to AZ after New Years. I usually take the Avalanche so we can meet any weather without a hassle. I'm thinking of hanging the Trans Am on the hitch this time.

Who knows where I'd be able to run a SCCA GT1-prepped car in central AZ?
