We just got back from "beautiful Wendover Nevada". My nav & I took 1st place in the 120 mph class, and Boyce & Jeff took 2nd in the 160 class...we had a blast!

It was EVERYTHING Boyce & Jeff said it would be and more! We did what we set out to do - bring home a trophy. Tho neither of us ever thought we'd do this good after they cancelled the shootout where we thought we had a legit chance. We also won the Best Rookie trophy for being closest to our time of the 8 newbies. We were .9 seconds off our target time and we averaged 119.96 mph over the 102 mile course.

During our race to the finish, the car got HOT. We were 30 seconds behind coming into the last straight because I let too much air out of the tires & they were a bit squishy going thru the turns so we had to slow down to 100 mph. So I cranked it up to 138mph for about 15 miles to make up some time. We were still 3 sec slow when the red idiot light came on (water temps at 240*, oil pegging the gauge at WELL over 300*). So I lifted & let it roll and we came in right where we wanted to. SWEET!

We had gone 138 mph for several miles earlier going thru the speed trap, so it was preheated before we went up the hill and it never cooled off. An oil cooler & some other stuff is required I think. (I need to talk to AndyJ if I'm going to run my car again) I wish we could have found out how fast the car was in the shootout - 138 wasn't even topped out in 3rd gear so we had plenty of power left, but the endurance part was at the car's limit.

Thanks to all that helped me with the setup! What a rush!!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif)
