I WANT ONE!!!! 3200 lbs, 400 rwhp, great fuel economy, and really great handling car. Best part, you can buy or build them for around $15,000. Next year can't come soon enough.
One of many videos I found on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVZ0duq5Bh8 |

Has anyone ever bought a car with a salvage title to use as a DD?
I'm considering finding one with cosmetic only damage and fixing it up. |

Not familiar with NC laws regarding salvage titles; however, in Virginia the general rule of thumb is no plates for vehicles with salvage titles. Hence you cannot drive them on the public roads. You can appeal this decision by VDOT, but few, if any, win their cases. Virginia is very strict about titling vehicles with salvage titles from both out-of-state and in-state. You'll need to check your state laws first before you buy a salvage vehicle.

Reminds me of the gang that was putting built small blocks in RX7 and 240Z.
Pretty crazy. |

I picked up a 1999 328is 5 spd. E36 coupe a few months back to use as a daily driver / beater and it immediately rewarded me by cracking the head. I'm probably going to fix it but the LS1 swap did cross my mind. Just don't have the funds to build it at the moment but damn that would be fun. Must resist. How did you like the 328? I'm considering one of those because they are thousands cheaper than an M3. I know there is quite a bit different than the M3 though.
The LS swap could be really cheap if it wasn't for the fact that the kits are several thousand. Someday..... |

I'll check with NC, but I'd imagine it'll be easier. |

I'm thinking of really taking my time and finding a screaming deal on a slight damaged M3. A minor fender bender will total these cars. Paint work is expensive, but throw a new bumper and hood on it and its good to go. Obviously checking for frame damage before buying.
Then I'd drive it for a while and start saving for the LS swap. |

I only paid $2,000 for it so I was just looking for something fun and economical as a daily driver. It just sucks that it may need head work but that's my luck. |

That does. I guess that's a common problem with these cars. The engines are fragile
$2k is a good price though. They have upgrades for the suspension that'll get it closer to handling like an M3. |
