F-Body Road Racing and Autocross Forums _ Advertiser Sales & Group Purchases _ ACPT Carbon Fiber Driveshaft GP

Kevin talked to ACPT and they are willing to another group buy on carbon fiber driveshafts. $600 (plus I assume $40 freight), upgrades to larger sizes available. This price is basically the same as the last GP, which was in like 2008 or something. We need 10 people to get this price.

Mmm, adding lightness and reducing rotational mass. Win-win!! Unfortunately, I'm wanting to get a 'glass front bumper cover for the 'bird, and I suspect we'll eventually, soon, grind through the remaining rubber on our last year's slicks, so a new order will be needed soon.

That was on my list down the road, after the Magnum, but only if it saved weight. The other thread says the Camaro ACPT shaft is 4.7lbs, not sure if that includes u-joints? What's the overall weight savings compared to the LS1 aluminum driveshaft & u-joints? It'll have to safely work with the UETA. I'm interested depending on timing of the group purchase ... but I've got a laundry list of other upgrades I'm going through, and it's first come first served.

I weighed my stock LS1 AL driveshaft complete with yoke and u-joints last night on my bathroom scale and it read 12 pounds. It is confirmed to work with the UETA. Blaine even has an AL driveshaft safety loop that will work with the ACPT and the UETA.

How will paymwnt work? Deposit and balancw whwn ready? All up front? Can Alan confirm in this thread that he's still selling that safety loop and the cost?

Once 10 people confirm (they said they will try to work with us if we can get at least 5, but we'll need 10 for the posted price), I'll collect the payments and send them one bulk payment. No deposit needed until we confirm and things are a "go".

In other words, once we get the max number of people, we collect cash (and verify that everybody who's "in" also sends money). Then I verify pricing for the confirmed quantity and place the order.

I am very interested I would need 1350 u-joints for my new 9 inch and this is a 3rd gen. Haven't got the rear end in yet so also don't know if I need to adjust the length for the 9 or not.

Some searching on LS1Tech:

QUOTE (LS1Tech)
The length of the drive shaft is going to be determined by the type of pinion yoke on the 9". I've got a billet 1350 yoke from moser and I needed a 1" longer shaft. If you use a stock style pinion yoke (which are longer), you can get away with a stock length shaft.

Thanks for the info Mine is a Quick Performance billet yoke so I will need to call them and see if they know how there will affect the driveshaft.

This thread hasn't gotten any action in a month, so I went ahead and bought myself one. I found a discount code for Year One (AUDIO) that made it only $730 shipped, which is only $90 more than the group buy price with shipping and the cheapest I could find online.
