Hey guys,

I'm have FINALLY gotten a chance to review the data from my second weekend at Putnam park running my new 17" rims from CTW Motorsports for my third gen. The proof is in the numbers AGAIN! Dropped more than a half second off of my absolute best at this track and G loads consistently higher again!

Guys, it's black and white, 17's are better! Plus everyone loves the way they look!

Well, I completed my first weekend of racing on CTW's new 17" rims on my third gen and I can say it wasn't what I expected...it was even better than I could have hoped. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The weekend started out with 40 degree temps on Saturday with a very damp track as a result of massive flooding type rain only days before. The track was cold, green and slippery but I could immediately tell a difference. It was GRIP! Although I didn't set any personal records that day, I could tell that the car was handling substantially better. It was more comfortable to drive and definately felt like it had more to give.

The following day found slightly warmer temps in the high forties and very low fifties and it had dried more. With qualifying cut short due to an accident, I had little time on my new rims and tires for the race. But once the race started, I could tell the new rims and tires had transformed my third gen into a whole new car. The car was more stable in the turns and definately gave me substantially more grip in braking. When the race was over, I had managed to snag a third place and, at my home track, I had beat my fastest lap time by nearly one whole second. Not only was my fastest lap faster, but in 6 of 20 laps, I had beat my best time ever!

I know there was a lot of debate about whether the extra weight of these larger tires were worth the benefit of the wider tire, but now I can tell you, the debate is over. If you don't believe the lap times, I can tell you my traqmate data proved it as well. G loads left, right and under braking all increased. I've attached the data.

I have to thank Paul from CTW for getting these wheels manufactured. They are going to let the third gens actually give the fourth gens a run for their money. Plus, they look awesome as well.

Well, I finally got some time to put together some video from 2012 in competing in the Camaro Mustang Challenge in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions of NASA. It was bit of a rough year with some engine problems but I was able to scrape together some footage.

Big thanks to Cassidy Tire and TiresDirect.net for their support. If you are looking for tires for your Fbody contact my brother-in-law Bill 312-543-6328.

Oh and if you like the video, like my facebook page as I will be posting more video as the season progresses.

The time has come for the 3rd gens to compete equally with the 4th gens thanks to CTW Motorsports new 17" rims specifially designed to allow the third gens to run a big brake package. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Heavy Impact Motorsports has teamed up with CTW Motorsports to compete in 2013 in the Camaro Mustang Challenge in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions of NASA. Prior to the release of CTW's new 17" rim for the 3rd gens, no reasonably priced wheel has existed that would allow the 3rd gens to run 17" rims with the beefier 275 tire without massive and heavy 2" spacers. These new wheels not only eliminate the necessity of a spacer but also allow enough room to run any big brake package you could fit in a 17" rim and at a weight of only 20.4#s per wheel!

During this next year, we will not only be strength testing these new rims (the design has already been heavily raced in BMW's as well as Miata's) but also to prove the extra performance gains to be made out of running the beefier 275 tire over the standard 255's run on 16" GTA rims. We will also substantiate our findings with traqmate data.

For more information on these new rims check our CTW's website
