Hello All,

I wanted to share our upcoming event and get it on anyone's calendar that might be interested in attending. August 9, 10 and 11 and features 2 full days of autocross. Registration is opening on Friday February 2nd.

For 2018 we are really excited because the entire event will be held at the new UMI Motorsports Park, a local race track acquired by UMI in the fall of 2017. The new to us park features plenty of space for parking and camping. The grandstands and facilities will make this a spectator friendly event, something most autocross events don't have. The track itself is a 75' wide 5/8 mile banked oval with infield road course. Additional paving to the infield will be completed before the event making a short course road course style track. This will be a fast, challenging and safe track with plenty of fun! We are excited. Follow of Facebook page or Instagram page to follow along with the track renovations.

Here's a quick description of the event, more info can be found on the website link and Facebook pages:

UMI's Autocross & Cruise In features two full days of autocross followed by a Saturday evening Cruise In car show with cars parked around the speedway. The Saturday evening Cruise In car show is great way to relax at the the end of a busy weekend and let the local community enjoy your car. UMI's evening Cruise In features hundreds of local cars, live music and good food while ending with a few laps around the oval. The entire event begins on Thursday evening with host hotel check in and a social gathering at a local restaurant. Friday features a full day of autocross, UMI supplied lunch then ending with a car cruise to UMI's manufacturing facility for a UMI open house and barbecue. Saturday features another full day of autocross, UMI supplied lunch, autocross awards and ending with our annual Cruise In. The entire weekend is filled with great people, good food and fun racing. Our goal is to supply you with a family friendly and fun weekend focusing on not just racing but a mix of people and family enjoyment.

Hey Kenny, Yes there is. Our track has lots of safe parking with no issues, there will be some campers there too. We should have the host hotel dialed in over the next two weeks. We are working on getting you guys the best price at the best place. I will make sure I update when all is ready. Thanks for asking and looking!

The course area this year will be unique. The Autocross Guys are the crew running the timing and autocross, however our park is the big oval track and infield road course so not your typical parking lot track room. Our design will be more like the Tire Rack set up in Southbend. With all of this I am hoping the design for our event is a combination of us, Autocross guys and Sam Strano.

I really want to come to this event this year! I have almost everything set for it and assuming building a new house doesn't get in the way, I'm still holding out hope that I'll make it (the house should be finished in August, hence the issues).

If you can make it, its a great weekend. Ryan & the UMI crew did a great job last year. I think it was the most fun I've ever had at an event and I didn't even have my car there to drive...rode with my son and other competitors all weekend!
relaxed atmosphere
food & drink
UMI shop tour (and more food)
We're planning a 3 night stay this year soon as the hotel is announced..

Kenny, great to hear! We are very happy to have you guys back. We are hoping to make this year even better and fix the small bugs we had. Sam Strano and I met at the track yesterday for another consultation and I think we have a really awesome course for 2018. We hope to start paving early summer and have it broke in before August.

Thanks for the support,
Ryan

We’re up to 68 registered cars already. Looks like this is going to be a good year!

I hear ya! But if I'm making a long haul, I'd rather go to the UMI event than LSFest again.

Now that I actually get a month of vacation/holidays I should have the time off to run this. Budget may be another story as well as just how much energy I have for more autocross during that time of full-fledged national season.

Florida is definitely a long haul! Yikes.

I can't believe how fast it's filling up. We are very happy with that (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
