There is no way that car is going to do 267 MPH with only 605 HP. It's a convertible and has a flat back, with a rather sharp nosed front end. Can you say impossible?

QUOTE (Anti-Venom @ Jan 8 2004, 12:43 AM) Wow, I can't believe I haven't seen that till now. I like it. That was the first episode I believe. I liked the show as well. That was quite nice of Ford to trust an outside group enough to let them in that far on a concept project. Yes, it was publicity, but it required a lot of faith. |

Can you say impossible? Yes, but it's almost a Ford since Shelby's background was with Ford. We all know what Ford (and their corporate partner Mazda) do with performance numbers like horsepower. Carroll just extended the exaggeration to top speed. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

I just went to the Auto Show and Ford states the car should be able to top 180 MPH. That's more like it, and likely conservative.

Man, that Caddy CTS-V WC car is VERY nice. I spent many minutes there analyzing their front splitter attachments, rear wing attachments, cage structure, carbon fiber dash, driver safety nets, front fenders, you name it.
The "a-line" of that car has been lowered at least 2" compared to a CTS-V. The whole front cap must be a new piece because it's done VERY well. Funny thing is the promo sheets for it said the first 2 race cars started out as paint quality rejects from the CTS-V line. Yeh, right. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I REALLY liked that car. I was at the auto show tonight for about 5 hours for a supplier day. My feet are tired. There were over 700 cars there and I know I saw them all. They had a C6 frame structure there with the engine and powertrain attached. That is a very nice frame. The windshield support structure is aluminum and had a custom made brushed type of finish almost like Pratt-Miller had done it themselves. |

Yeah....on the WC website they have auto show pics....big and good quality...
Guys are asking MORE questions about the car now....like "why does it seem WIDER than stock" (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) SCCA seems to be letting the cat out of the bag VERY slowly on this one.... First they admitted the car had the engine move back 3 inches....no longer common in WC.. Next they admitted the car had "larger flares" to accomodate larger tires... Then the admit the fenders are wider for the tires alse... WTF???? I love the car, but I would HATE to be in that series right now because of the crap they are pulling.. |

The carbon fiber dash had NO instruments in it. As a matter of fact I didn't see any tachometer, etc. in the car. Also didn't see a rear view mirror inside the car. Little things I thought were odd.
Cadillac worked out a deal with the WC that if the WC wanted them to race in their series they would allow them this and that and this and that . . . It's beginning to sound a little like Trans Am and there was an exodus from that series by many racers. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |

That is probably because the car uses a digital dash that is mounted with the steering wheel like a Motec...jeez and I though my Autometers were expensive!!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)
Yeah, well WCGT is doing just fine w/o Cadillac.....If I were in the office, I would have refered GM to the rule book EVERY OTHER COMPETITOR USES! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) This IS the kind of crap that pisses competitors off and kills series. Look at how PTG got pissed at SCCA and walked. |
