The CTS-V sold last week.
New owner flew in, he tossed me a sack full of cash and I tossed him the keys and off he drove.

It was a great car, but it was time. I've logged a whopping 1500 miles on it over the last three years ... 600 the last two.
She sat in the back of my shop under a car cover most of the time.

So the stable is empty and doubt it will ever be refilled.

That's a sad day indeed Mitch. I'll offer you half of a Corvette chassis that's living on jackstands in my garage. It's the least I can do for a friend.

I've been looking for my next toy. I've considered selling my new truck and going to look at the new Camaro SS (hoping I fit in this one, I didn't fit well in last years version). I hate to give up the truck, but I don't want to buy things to work on these days. I just want a reasonably fast car that I can put gas in.... NOT A DONER-CYCLE!!! I got a 95 Z28 that's a nice driver that's available. Turn-freakin'-key. At least it has 4 wheels, and you can let the air tussle your hair. :-)

I bet she's nice. But I think my gear jamming days are done.

I've been slowly hauling off all the accumulated pieces parts I had stashed in my shed and shop to make room for reloading and riding.

I'm not one of those squids you see wheelie-ing down the expressway.
Just a grey haired old man that is looking to explore the country during my retirement.

Heh, I know. I'm enjoying automatics more and more these days. Of course, a well-built automatic is a ton of fun, too.

Not to discourage you, but the guy I got most of my reloading knowledge (although I have yet to apply it) as well as weapons information, was an avid, very conservative bike rider. He frequently rode his bike to work and back, even in less-than-stellar weather. But he was a safe driver, and never took risks.

Well, one afternoon, he was riding down a city street, probably at about 30, whatever the speed limit was, and he had a guy in a Comcast truck swerve in front of him, dive-bombing to make a turn. He couldn't stop in time, and piled up in the back of the truck, probably totaling the bike, dislocating his shoulder and breaking his ankle in two places. He was laid up for many days, and when I recently saw him a year later, he is still limping, and says he has to do stretching exercised every morning to get his shoulder working for the day. He still rides, but a LOT less. Preferring the car for the day-to-day duties. And yeah, I know, when your number is up, your number is up, but it's not always the stupid stuff you do that can get you in real trouble.

As they used to say on the TV show "Be careful out there."

I've been shopping for something fun to drive myself (that I don't plan to build or work on). I want something with a removable roof if possible. I really just want a fast, fun driver. I'm leaning towards a C5 Z06 (though the top doesn't come off). Currently, 6 speed LSx F-bodies are going for about the same price I got for my 2002 Z28 in 2007. I refuse to believe that the book price on an 85,000 mile car from 1999 (give or take) is $12-14k.

I might go drive the new Camaro SS and consider getting rid of my 2015 Silverado...(then buy a work beater).

Yeah, the rear vis out the back of our Caprice is horrid. Funny that the cops say it is TONS better than the Taurus. I'm trying to figure out the best rear camera configuration on that car. hopefully it goes at least a bit better when I lower it a bit.

What, were they thinking??

Ahh, you were talking about a Camaro SS. Yeah, they are pretty bad, too. I'm sure the 1200 air bags the cars come with these days has something to do with that.

That's why IF I had the coin, and was in the market for a new pony/muscle car today, I would be looking at a Mudstain GT with the track pack, or, IF I could swing it, and wait for one, a GT350, or 350R.

Yes, I know everyone (all of the rags) rants and raves just how much more of a handling, 'driver's car' the 6th gen SS is than the base GT (or even the track pack version), but that does one little good if they cannot see out of it through bunker gun slit side, and rear windows, due to the sky high 'belt line' the GM stylists insist on using in their designs. Well don't let him fool you when his truck has 150 more hp than his old race car, but I guess still not a hot rod. I was sad to see the V go as I would have like to own that one day. Tough old man to cruise the country on a motorcyle but those are pretty cool. I would say take the truck and haul it in the back or on a trailer and then ride in different areas but I'm soft. Besides-that bike is too far away from you!

That's not saying much these days. Heck, my truck had more HP than our race car had with the old engine. It's still possibly a toss-up. It certainly has more torque, but we won't be spinning it as tight as that little LS1!

I'd LOVE a CTS-V, or better yet, a CTS-V Wagon, but man, they're still pricey. Our latest will be my 'V-clone', when I get time to do more work on it. It already runs pretty well, but needs suspension work, and I do plan an exhaust replacement, and possibly a cam install. Who knows what else? The price on the car was right, so the money spent on a V will be poured into the Caprice.

My uncle switched from Harleys to BMW bikes several years ago and had collected 4 or so of them that he rotated riding. We just lost him to cancer a couple months back....but he always spoke highly of the BMW touring bikes.
