I need a minimum of 5 order. If we get 10 there will be more of a discount!!

Retail on the 10bolt F-body covers (TA 1809) are $159 and add a stud kit for $19.95.

5 orders will be sold at $140, 10 will be at $125, stud kits ordered with cover will be $15. This example is for the 10bolt F-body covers, they offer many other covers and any cover purchased will go into the GP count.

So we just need to get to 7, and we're currently at 4, correct? Surely there are 3 more folks on this board that want to be able to:

1) Change diff fluid without removing the cover and getting the smelly stuff all over the swaybar.

2) Easily add a differential cooler to keep that t2r in nice shape.

TA Performance Rear End Cover GP details.

The GP will end November 5th.

Pricing is as follows:
Cover $125
Stud kit $15
Shipping $15

This is for any cover TA Performance offers, not limited to 4th Gen F-bodies.

Some common part numbers:
1809 4th gen F-body 10bolt cover
1802 3rd gen F-body 9bolt cover (aussie rear end)
1810 12 bolt car cover

Howdy,

What's the advantage of one of these rear end covers, outside of the drain plug?

Do the bearings need the extra support? How does this cover help with a diff cooler?

* All TA Girdles are made of 356 aircraft grade aluminum, heat treated to T6 specifications, each cover is then stress relieved.

* The covers are machined using a 3 step CNC process, which ensures accuracy and quality.

* Each cover is hand deburred and inspected for the utmost in fit and finish. Then each cover is hand assembled and packaged.

* All Girdles incorporate a Fill Port and a Drain Port for ease of servicing.

* All Girdles incorporate 2 load bolts with swivel "feet" for supporting the bearing caps.

* All Girdles increase fluid capacity approx. 1/2 pint.

* All Girdles show a decrease in operating temperature, average of 15 degrees

* Average weight, 7 lbs. Large ring gear truck applications will be heavier.

* Improves Undercarriage Appearance

TA's optional stud kit is also recommended to help keep bearing caps from walking in housing.

Mark, you can pull fluid out of the drain port with a pump, run it through a cooler and pump it back into the cover through the fill port if you were running an application that might need additional diff cooling. Otherwise, the adjustable bolts preload the carrier caps to help prevent the ring and pinion interface from deflecting them under load.

I installed one on a friends car, I don't think it's a miracle cure, but it can't hurt and easy fluid changes are almost worth the cost alone to me.

I thought those two items in the center were pre-drilled AN ports for the addition of a diff cooler. Oh well. I suppose if I wanted to go that route I could get the cover drilled and tapped.

Nope, they are to allow you to preload the bearing caps.

There are two bolts running through the rear cover, at the bottom it has a foot (a foot....hmm, think of the "ball" on the end of the bolt on a C clamp, it has that cover that can swivel to conform to things, it's a similar setup). That foot can be tightened against the caps that hold the differential in. When you apply torque to a differential, it will either move the car forward, or try to shove the differential sideways (trying to lessen the load on the gears and the spiral cut of a pinion can help push the ring gear away as well as the taper of the ring gear teeth). If you apply enough power, it could "skip" a tooth (or several) by flexing the caps sideways. Usually they just break at that point, but you could get out on the end of the ring gear and chip the end of the teeth off. So, this cover allows you to tighten a bolt with a foot on the end until it lightly contacts the caps that hold the diff. That helps prevent them from spreading (or that's the intent) under load. That should allow for longer ring gear life and a slightly stronger rear end (should, I've not thoroughly tested it yet, but that's the idea).
