I've got a 2002 taurus SEL (loaded, leather, etc) that I'm going to be selling soon. Currently it has what I think is a valvetrain problem. It appears that one of the valves was starved for oil and stuck in the guide. I'm going to either sell it as it currently is (it runs and moves, but it needs the head pulled off and checked out) or I'm going to fix it, and sell it when it's done. It's blue with cream leather and has 117,000 miles on it (my sister drove it from the Summit Point area to Washington DC to work every day, that's where the mileage came from).

Hey Kevin Have you had a valve cover off the thing? I've had to do some Broken Valve springs in those cars.

I haven't yet. I did a compression test and cylinder #1 (passengers side on the rear bank) has 0 compression. It won't even wiggle the needle. I suspect the exhaust valve was "under lubricated" and while it was shut off so they could pump fuel, it siezed to the guide. I'm just speculating right now, but it's going to be coming apart in the next few weeks.

Wow wouldnt you bielve that is cylinder that I've had to do the Broken spring on!!!!! When the car is running, is it making a death type noise from that area. The 2 cars I ve worked on Both broke the Intake spring which spit the rocker arm off to the side and the pushrod was just sitting there banging against something making alot of bad noise. It look like it just forced the valve back up in the head and there was just enough spring pressure left to hold it there. I remember no compression also. Its just a thought for ya. It really wasnt a hard fix just need to fish some stuff out and away he went.

Let me know if I can help you

John

I'm hoping that's the issue. Do you have instructions/manuals for it? Something you can e-mail?

It makes some odd rattling noises, but it does run and drive (not that we went far). Maybe I'll get lucky.

My sister-in-law is looking for a cheap car. You didn't list a price, but PM me what you are thinking for this thing. It may or may not be in her price range.

Thanks
