I think I will take my 5-year-old son to this but I don't know if I will be glad I did.

How can you NOT feel anything but excitement for that movie!!! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif)

I grew up watching Speed Racer and LOVED IT! I already have my 3 year old son watching DVD's of it.....I heard a couple of years ago they were making a live action movie and was excited. Knowing the Wachowski brothers did it and the talent that is in it makes me want to see it even more. Supposedly the camera that they shot it with is one of a kind, and shoots with both the foreground and the background in focus....supposed to be visually stunning!

Hopefully the film is more than a gimmic and is actually good! I will be there right next to my son for this one!

I grew up watching it as well (when it was first out and new!!). Sometimes (most times?) anime does not translate too well to live action. Let's hope this one is an exception to that rule. It's funny but back then when I was 6-9 years old, I did not even realize it was Japanese anime (Astro Boy as well).
They seem to have taken some stylized liberties with the Mark 5, but it seems close enough to remain authentic.
Sometimes I've wondered at the irony that the other Japanese ride also named MKIV that everyone seems to believe can do all that the anime one could and much more. Do you think that Toyota planned it that way??

I wonder who will play 'Racer X'??
