Andy, just got home. In short the car broke in Sanderson. The LG radiator slipped out of the stock rubber mounts causing the upper radiator hose to get into the water pump pulley. I kept a good eye on water temp and oil pressure on course, and both were good (210º indicated on the funky 99+ gauge, and almost 70psi of oil pressure on course (from 5000 up on course). We went through the finish in Sanderson at over 160, and it felt great. Got to the gas station, took a moment to reflect, then several more to get out of the car & helmet. I noticed something hissing from under the hood. Popping the hood revealed it was leaking water. The hole is not huge, and ultimately when it cooled off the water was probably 5" low in the radiator. It sounds fine, we chose not to do a ghetto repair, got a ride thru Marathon back to Fort Stockton, got the truck, went back thru Marathon to pick it up with Nick's truck and trailer. Hauled it back to the hotel up 285.

Nick Runyon did an awesome job as navigator. I hope and think we will be going back in something next year. We averaged about 135. It has been a while since I have been on a track, and was timid in the corners. I kept it in fifth a lot, and never spun the motor over 6k. We had a deer on the side of the road startle us a little; fortunately it chose to not commit suicide.

GuySS ran 125 in his nice black SS and we saw him driving home after the race. Unfortunately I was distracted talking to him and forgot to take a picture of his car.

The fastest speed recorded was the Corvair at 204mph.

The NASCAR averaged 165.xxx

The blue Mach 1 was driven by a father and navigated by his son. The won the 150 class and were very close. The car was clean and well done. I like it.

Chuck,

Sorry to hear about the breakage and it was good it was not worse than it was. I noticed alot more exotics in your pics than I have seen there in the past.

The south end is a good place to be timid. People don't realize this is not one of those wide open West TX blow and go roads. If you averaged 135 you were working it pretty good.

The Corvair driver is from New Mexico (Charlie Friend, I understand he is a former F4 pilot, and he is a super nice guy).
