Hamilton was quite dumb.
2 cars stopped @ outside of the pit lanes side-by-side due to red-light (closed pits).
He still drives @ max allowed speed in pits and rear-ends them, putting him and the Ferrari out of the race...
wonder what he was thinking or looking @ ?

best angle of what happens (spanish):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pzb8nFouUlQ
all 5 first runners go in the pit once they opened pits after pace car.
shit happens on the exit, because exit is closed, due to pace car.

better angles here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap--XNi5sak

Maybe he was distracted by the Montreal ladies... lol

Was a very clean start... can't remember a start of the race without any incident in turn 1 or 2 here in Montreal.
Here is the start: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tKZeDGUG78

Being Lewis fan I was bummed and also for Kimi and Nico. Good drive by Kubica and Massa was a terror at the end!

Howdy,

Having the pit lane open, but the exit closed has to be one of the more silly things I've ever heard of... Varsha on WindTunnel said it was due to the old pit out setup that dumped drivers right onto the circuit in front of guys at speed, so they'd hold them if someone was coming. Of course, since then the pit out exit has changed...

I wonder if Hamilton decided who to hit, once he realized he was going to hit someone? Quick thinking if so.

Mark

IIRC, the sporting regulations state that any cars that come in after the pitlane is opened during a safety car period will be held at pit exit until all other competitors have passed the track re-entry point. This is the same for all tracks, regardless of track setup.

For a minute I thought Kyle Busch was in the McLaren...

DC was on the podium too!

Sad to see Lewis out (definitely a dumb incident on his part), but very happy to see BMW and Kubica finally get a race win. Makes the season very intersting now with Kubica leading the driver's championship, and BMW only few points behind Ferrari in the constructors.

It was a great race with the exception of Hamilton being a chuckle head. I was happy to see BMW get to the top step. I'm just sad that this is the first year since '99 that I won't be personally attending a race.

All that proves is that you can do dumb things in the rules as well as in person... :-)

It was the first F1 race I've seen in a long time. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif) It was great seeing BMWs do so well.
