I got a theory for the turnout.
Budget classes like CMC, lower ranks of PT, and most TT guys are made up of folks running on a budget. So if your racing budget is low, you won't make the tow.

Randy, I think Darrell Anderson, the owner/driver of that monster Mustang is an old SCCA racer. I've talked with him a bunch, and spent several hours helping him debug/wrench on it during its first trip to the track (10 hours after Griggs finished bolting it together) Griggs involvement explains NASA, but isn't Bruce Griggs behind the west coast AV8SS push? And isn't it running with SCCA ITE right now?

I bought a trailer from Bruce about a year ago, and he was seriously trying to talk me into running AV8SS with my 4th gen ... of course that Mustang extinguished any hope of my competitiveness, since he's planning to run AV8SS as well. I think Darrell just wants to drive and have fun ... and has way more $$$ tied up in the Mustang build than he intended, so is driving it anywhere he can to "make it worth it".

BTW, at the last NASA Thunderhill weekend, Darrell told me he's run 1:43's in practice at Infineon in that Mustang ...

Just wonderin' what is happening on the other side of the fence is all..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif)

And I have been meaning to ask what's up with AV8SS? - Griggs was at Infineon in June, same weekend as SCCA was at Laguna. I talked to Bruce briefly, wanted to ask him but thought better of it since it looked to me like the AV8SS/SCCA deal had fizzled.

CMC is going thru some growing pains...

AI is strong tho, I've got a hand in at least 4 new builds for 2009

I don't the the AV8SS/"SCCA" deal fell through. As far as I know they were all for it.....had the big shindig at the track last year to pump up folks and all at Griggs shop. But it is SCCA, and they don't typically champion classes. It was up to Miki and a couple of other people to push the series and get folks interested as I heard it.....

Either the push was not enough, or there was not enough interest to warrant the effort.....dunno......I haven't asked lately either.

He was running 1:43's at Sears pretty easily.....He passed me one lap and I was OUT OF CONTOL trying to stay with him, and all the while his car looked like he was running a cool off lap.....never missed a mark....put the car WHEREVER he wanted.....just cruising!

That is a heck of a drive from Jersey, but I am gonna see if I can make it. Most likely as a spectator/random help if anyone needs it. I am sure I can drag some others from the NJ crew out for the fun with me. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
