By the numbers this is a ~1934 production which, from what I can gather, is the more desireable as they are the strongest ones that were made (think 4bolt main!).
Story: My father picked this one up a few years before he passed and took it to the range once. I've never shot it and don't need it. Took it to the gun show last weekend and it generated a good bit of interest due to the very nice stock, sling, and original barrel that is in 'very good' shape. I am not a 1903 expert, but 4 of the dealers who looked at it all confirmed the action was very nice (they just snipped the zip tie, worked the action, checked the rifling, and re-zipped it....whoah), the barrel was original (news to me) and that the job converting it to a 'sporter' was done very well. Anyway, similar weapons on tables were going for 600 and above. I'm looking for 450$ for it. I think I have a few dozen rounds of ammo and can run it to the range and personally check the weapon. I pulled the scope off to check the serial number, so it will need to be re-zero'd anyway. Very slick weapon with a sweet cheek rest that handles well. Good scope and sling. Nobody had any bad words to say about it...(of course, nobody bought it either, but it was a pretty darn small show).
