A group of us had our cars dynoed today. I had the Camaro on the dyno 2 years ago. It made 288.3 hp and 311.38 lb ft. and had around 4000 miles on it. Today with 5700 miles and Hoosiers on the rear, it made 301.05 hp and 320.93 lb ft. It weighed 3467 pounds which seems heavy to me. It's an '02 hardtop, manual windows, locks, no traction control, etc. The only options were the Hurst shifter, the Z-rated tires, and the rear defroster. It sure beat hanging around the house scraping wall paper.

My (leather/loaded/t-top) 2002 Z28 was almost pushing 3,650-ish lbs as I remember (it's been years, I think it was 3875 with me in it and I was about 230 lbs). The leather and power stuff isn't more than a couple hundred lbs, if that. (as far as I know, but maybe I'm wrong).

Did you get the corner weights and how much fuel was in it?
My 99 Z28 was 3,340 with under a 1/4 tank of gas. My full load 99 SS ragtop is 3,580 with about the same amount of gas. Now you have me itching to borrow scales to check the 1LE. |

My 99 Z28 was 3,340 with under a 1/4 tank of gas. That's the lightest stock 4th gen I've ever seen by alot. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

From memory My 01 hardtop formula was 3365 with a bolt in cage/. Let me see if I can find my old log book to verify that figure.

Oops. It was 3407, 3/4 full of fuel. We did corner weigh it:
Empty: With driver: LF..942# RF..998# LF..1045# RF..1015# LR..743# RR..724# LR..830# RR..775# Cross weight 1741# 51.1% Cross weight 1848# 50.3% Rear weight 1467# 43.1% Rear weight 1607# 43.8% Left weight 1685# 49.5% Left weight 1873# 50.3% We were using a set of Longacre scales. Here's mine from a few months ago. I didn't log how much fuel I had though. Although that was on my street wheels/tires, my race tires are within 1lb.
Total weight with driver in car: 3745lbs (I weigh 225) Final: LF: 5 3/8", 1070lbs RF: 5.5", 1016lbs LR: 5 7/8", 859lbs RR: 6", 800lbs Cross: 50.06% Left Side: 51.7% |

My F-Stock LT1 hardtop was 3415 on the scales at HP Topeka with 3/4 tank. I thought that was pretty good for a stock LT1 car. Stock exaust even!

I heard a rumor a few years ago that, in our cars, power windows were actually lighter. Somehting about the motor being lighter and all the linkage needed to crank the window.

Wow that's almost 1hp gain for every 100 miles driven! My WS6 just turned over 115K, I gotta be over the 500hp mark by now! I can't comment on the weights though, I havn't had mine on the scales. It's got to be heavy, it's loaded with the monsoon stereo and the air adjustable seats ect... I'm sure the air pump and motor and excess wiring counts for at least 50lbs or more, not to mention 8 speaker magnets. Mills |

It sure beat hanging around the house scraping wall paper. A few things to note: Hoosiers: what size? Any change in gearing will effect the number, as well as any loss in rotational weight. Mileage. Not uncommon for a car to loosen up and since many find that newer cars "wake up" around 5000 miles I strongly believe the programming is loosened up once past break-in. My Camaro, my Mustang, Corvette owners and a lot of other report the very same thing. Weather. Clearly it's pretty cool, was the weather the same as before? The numbers are good. I'm sure you picked up some power--any number of reasons why. I don't think it's just from wear. The weight: My car was, and still is right about 3429 with a full tank. Hardtop, power window, 6-speed car. I've shed weight off the car in ways, and added some back so it's all worked about a wash. Scales are notoriously variable. Your car should be no heavier than mine. That number was off the certified scale @ Heartland Park in Topeka in 2006. |

The weight was actually 3406, rather than 3467. My Hoosiers are 255/50/16. I know they're not the optimum size for the car, but the price was really, really good and they were almost new. They are actually a touch taller and probably very close to the same weight of the Goodyears it came with. The dyno days were 3 days from being exactly 2 years apart, although the first time it was a little warmer. Now all I have to do is decide on what to do with the car.

My '00 t-top is 3650 kevin, so you are spot on. From what I heard, the power window setup is lighter? then the manual setup. The motor isn't all that heavy. I'm sure power locks adds a bit, but not a whole lot. The power seat isn't a featherweight. |
