I would CERTAINLY love to hear I could put the Tex in the Corvette! That would be AMAZING.
If anybody can come up with a way to do so where I don't have to spend a mint, which I don't have, or have to reinvent the wheel to do so, I would be ALL EARS! Please let me know if you have workable solutions! |

It would take a custom output shaft, too - the C5 T56 output shaft extends thru the diff case, 8-10" as I recall, to engage the pinion. I have a spare diff from my 99 FRC downstairs, if you need some dimensions. If you remove the tail housing from the Tex / Jerico the output shaft extends longer than 10” |

Manual trans I assume? What ratio? Base C6 I assume? I can’t guarantee that you won’t have to reinvent the wheel. Actually you will. Most likely you will have to have parts machined. Trans to axle adapters will be needed. The driveshaft interface may be the most difficult since Jerico / Tex (like every other trans that bolts to the engine) rely on a pilot bearing in the crank. My assumption is that the C5/C6 transmission have an input shaft that is self-supported. |

I bought the "car" as a "frame with doors" since all the other bodywork/parts would be race stuff essentially. Therefore, I can buy whatever trans/diff combo is the strongest/most reliable for racing, and could do the same for the Tex if it could work. |

Connecting the driveshaft might not be as bad as I thought. I was looking at pictures on the google and it looks like the Corvette input shaft looks like any normal input shaft as it has a journal for a pilot bearing. Then there is a reverse bellhousing type thing that bolts to the front of the trans, and I assume that holds a bearing to support the rear of the driveshaft and pilots the trans input shaft. So maybe an adapter plate could be made.
No matter what, Randy, there is quite some engineering involved with this. Not sure if you want to go there. |

Hi Randy! Still got that Tex 4-Spd? I've never even seen one in person. Can it bolt to the standard bolt pattern like a T10? Yoke size? Clutch spline count?
Basically, do I have to get another $1000 worth of changes when I change from my T5? I'll be in CA after New Years so no shipping...so just wondering... |

Still on sale on Tex 101A??? Come with shift? Bellhousing/clutch? Trans.mount ?
LMK I think about to buying your 4 spd NASCAR manual but I not sure if my budget permit. do you mind to send PM me pixes I am finally getting the final list of things that need to go out there.... $1999 Tex 101A Dog Ring race box. This transmission KILLS ME to sell. Thing was absolutely the most fun to drive that I have EVER SEEN! It is absolutely amazing up a straight....lift and shift absolutely NO HESITATION in pulling up the straight. These go all day long used on eBay for about $1999 as I can see....again, I will have my gear shop ensure it is perfect before the sale. I paid about $2800 for it a year ago. All prices are negotiable and BO. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Thanks... I have two folks in line on that item...it is currently at the shop getting a refresh. If they both bail on the trans, I will let you know. Thanks. |

I do still have the Tex....will have to get those stats on it...and it is not in my possession at this time...at a fab shop. I do have all the bellhousing and throwout setup for my LS based motor as well. I might have the trans mount, but I may have trashed it with the scrap. I will look tomorrow.

Here are my notes from the trans:
QUOTE OVALSPEED PACKAGE • Tilton part #53-501 Magnesium Bellhousing • Tilton part #1500 Hydraulic Release Bearing o Piston = Quartermaster Tri-Lite 1.850” o Bearing = Quartermaster Tri-Lite 1.75” • Tex 101A Road Race 4 Speed o Ratios = close as possible to 2.2, 1.5, 1.3, 1:1 o Long Rail Shifter set to TOTAL setback from engine of 28 ½” o Internal Cooler Pump o 26 Spline Input Shaft o 32 Spline Output The input is GM because it is the same as my old T56--the output I think is bigger NASCAR sized, so a bigger yoke setup would be needed. It looks like the old Muncie case style, which I THINK is like a T10, I have never seen a T10 though, so not positive, but I used all the old standard trans mounts and patterns..... |

I have ls2 engine and that transmission would fit on my ls2. I use 10 GM bolt..Let me figure out or get custom shaft (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
