I know we have many shooters here and someone here once recommended Rafter S Gunleather for affordable and high quality holsters, belts and such. I've actually ordered a belt and several holsters from Rafter S over the last few years. It's been fantastic stuff and they have always been really slow to deliver stuff. If they said it's in stock, it shows up in 4-8 weeks. If they said it would be 8 weeks, it gets here in 14 weeks, etc. I've sent friends there, made several orders myself, and generally liked their products.

November of last year I contacted Della about having a couple pancake style holsters made. She said it was no problem and would be the same price as the regular holsters. We exchanged a few emails and she said to call her cell phone to finalize the order. No problem. I was going to give her a credit card number but she asked for a personal check (and being a small buisness, it saves them fees so I didn't think much of it). I mailed the check and it was cashed 12/31/10. I've called, I've emailed, I've called again. I got her on the phone once, she said "I'll have to look that up and call ya back"...riiiiight. Never spoke to her again. Never had her return an email, nothing. I was always pleasant, offered to let her send me the standard holsters if it was easier. "Hope you're having a great week", etc (no "where's my stuff bitch??"). I've filed with the BBB and she never responded to the complaint, I filed with the MO attorney general office, no results. I even filed with the US postal service for mail fraud...nothing. I have copies of the cancelled check and all correspondence with those agencies if I need it.

It appears that I'm not going to be receiving my holsters or my $107.75 back. So, pass it around to your friends. DO NOT send Della Schafer any orders, money or business. And, if anyone has any ideas how to deal with a mail order company that runs off with your cash (which is illegal, but only if you can do something about it)...I'm all ears.

I did find it a little odd that she's chosen to be in the holster and firearms accessory business and thought it would be a good idea to steal from her clients. Seems like a poorly concieved plan...lol.

Oddly, after typing this and on a whim I tried the cell number last night. I have spoken to Della once by phone last November to take my order and one day in March when I called to ask about it and was told "I'll have to research that and call you back"....no call (and she has never answered her phone since). Last night she answered (twice even) and advised me that she had recently pulled that order and they'd go out friday or monday...then she asked me what material and holsters and what they fit (but it was ready to ship?). I'm curious now, but not terribly optimistic. Maybe hearing from the postal inspector did the trick...or this is more of the same. A 1 year delivery time is pretty impressive service...(if we even make that date).
