I have a line on an '01 Z28 for dirt cheap that may have a blown engine (supposedly has rod knock, but the battery was dead when I went to look at it the other day so we couldn't start it up). Looking for a used engine that I could just have swapped in so I could re-sell the car for a little profit if it does indeed have a bad engine. Does anybody have a source (or have one themselves (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) of a used LS1 engine. I've looked at car-part.com, and there are a couple on eBay right now, but I'm hoping some F Body geek might know of another one. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm hoping for something in the $2000 range. This particular car has 85,000 on it, so anything under that in running condition is OK.

Or if anybody wants to hassle with the car, I will divulge the whereabouts and contact info for a $500 finder's fee. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/2thumbs.gif) It's an '01 Z28, red, 6 speed, T-tops, cloth interior, 85K ....

He has a ARE h/c LS1 and is getting a stroker ls2 installed during the winter.
As far as I know, he hasn't sold his ls1... maybe he can give you a deal.

GM parts direct has an new LS6 400hp for around $5000.00 with a camaro oil pan. That would be the engine to get since you have all of the stuff to complete the long block.

That would perhaps blow your budget, but I think that engine might sell the car.

GM PART # 12498399
CATEGORY: Eng Asm-(must provide commercial shipping address)
PACK QTY: 1 CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $7,185.90
OUR PRICE: $5,030.13
DESCRIPTION: ENG KIT
LS6 Service Engine with Camaro Oil Pan Kit
This is a long block for a 2001-03 corvette RPO LS6 with 5.7L and 405 horsepower, which includes a Camaro oil pan assembly in the crate.

The long block includes the corvette oil pan and for 97-2002 Camaro applications requires a change to the Camaro pan.

Technical Notes: This engine assembly includes an aluminum block, aluminum heads, crankshaft, rods, pistons, valve train, camshaft, valve covers, and an oil pan. It does not include intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, balancer, flywheel, throttle body, or any electronics. "Emission legal for Corvette LS6 option only."

I kinda think an '01 w/a new LS6 would fly out of your driveway!!!

Here's one that needs "freshening". Wish it were an LT1, I'd be all over it.

And the seller is a regular here, I believe.
