Ok, new guy here..... Options

Was asking some questions on f-body.com and someone from there gave me this site.
So far, I love what I see, nice to see not everyone is into straightline performance 24/7

Now as for very very basic stuff, I am very very new to the real suspension tweeks.
Pretty much I have always been under the impression things like st braces and SFC's were pretty much night and day differences on these cars.

However, I am looking to get into crossing the SS and have looked at things like hal Q1 shocks and springs and what not.

I already have sub frames for the car other than the st brace the suspension is typical SS set-up

number one, what are the reccomendations on chcnging springs and torque arms and shocks and anything I am leaving out? Looking for personal opinions that I may take into consideration.

number 2, I am in jersey, where could I find info on taking the car to an event after she is set up to my happiness?

from what I have heard st brace does not do much on a 4th gen since 4th gens have shocks and not struts.

Two major things you forgot:
1. Anti-Sway Bars
2. T2R LSD

Oh yeah and good tires make a massive difference

for shocks you're going to want Sammy Strano's revalved bilsteins or koni single adjustables. Hal Q1's are more for drag racing from my understanding. I'm sure Sam can tell you what's wrong with them like he told me that the KYB adjustable shocks are worthless on the f-body.

If you call up Sam (ask for Sam Jr) and explain what you have and what you want to accomplish he'll set you up.

Welcome! Not sure how you plan to use your car (autox/track events/time trials?). Set-up is determined by primary use. I'm also from NJ and primarily use my '02 Z-28 for Open Track events. If you are looking to get into autox, the site: www.autox4u.com is the place to start for people in NJ. HPDE track events are available through: trackmasters, NASA, PDA, Car Guys, and any of the marque specific clubs. Just choose an organization that runs a track you'd like to learn. Seat time is the most useful thing you can do to improve your skills. Despite what some people think, the 4th gen. Camaro is a pretty respectable track car right out of the box. It is more than equal to the skills of most novice and intermediate level drivers. Did I mention seat time? Save the mod money and drive, drive ,drive.

First, spend your money on track or autocross time, and spend the leftover on mods. And search through the old posts, you'll see that the Hal's are not a setup for turning corners. The board's not very old, but there is already a ton of great info here to be found.

Just take your time and don't just jump @ purchasing parts... discuss it over.

What are the SLP options on the car? (You can find out by looking at the SLP option tag on the end of the passenger side door.)
If you got the Level II, or Bilstein suspension option, then I'd leave the suspension alone and focus on seat time. While not the absolute best peformance suspension for f-bodies, they are both very good.

Welcome, I'm from NJ also. I don't autocross, but I do open track with the BMW club. They also autocross, so you may want to check with them, or also 2MCHPWR on this board. I believe he autocrosses up at Giants Stadium.
