I need to pull a couple of hp out of my car and am going to test replacing my 1LE intake elbow with the stock one.

I would like one with a functioning IAT.

THanks.

Keith, what's an IAT? Intake Air T-something? We've got a mystery box that I sweat is the stock air intake from the Camaro, but Chris swears is some air intake thing from a p.o.s. that we had a couple years back.

IAT - Intake Air Temperature. At the "apex" of the elbow, as it sits in the engine bay, there is a sensor with a connector attached to it. You have to pull this connector to get the elbow out.

You can just see it sticking out of the left of the elbow in this picture of the 1LE elbow (this picture is actually up-side down).

Anyway, this sensor is the IAT. The ECM uses this to decide if it can advance timing based on the intake air temperature. SLP sells a "dummy" sensor that you can plug in there to fool the ECM to advance the timing pretty cheaply. I sold mine when I decided to go to CMC since this is an illegal part.

I guess I should have known - my wife was right. I opened the box and it is not any kind of air intake. Anyone need a wiper arm for a 280ZX?

My old stock one has been modified sorry. But has much of a lost do you need? the 1le elbow can't give that much of an increase can it, the long tube is a sound baffle mostly right. Ok dumb ? Time (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Have you tried the stock air filter? A cai is good for 5 12hp

But im sure you thought of all this :leaving:

Eveything else from the airfilter to the y-pipe is bone stock except the throttle body restrictor plate. The 1LE elbow gives about 3hp according to a guy who runs a dyno who has tested them. I'd like to pull another couple of hp out of the car for a safety margin.

If you can send me yours first (car is a daily driver) I'll swap my stock one for the 1LE and send you the stock one and the "Elephant Trunk" IAT Works fine as far as I know (no ses). Is the IAT you have not working? LMK if this helps.

Fred,

Normally, I would say yes, but my intention is a little different here. I really would like to be able to swap between the stock and the 1LE when I remove my throttle body restrictor plate for non-CMC events. This means I am not looking for a swap but rather a straight purchase. Based on what you say, you obviously can't let yours go... Oh well.
