On a local enthusiast board I made a post about the lip roller I was going to use and if anyone wanted to use it they could come over to my place and borrow it. Someone made a comment as to why anyone would possibly ever want to do that to their car. I told him I wanted to improve the aerodynamics of my car to improve gas mileage and was thinking about rolling my lips so I could weld up some alluminum skirts and latter on install an electric motor hybrid kit. In the end it resulted in these pictures till he finally wised up.

Darren working on the steering system, trying to come up with a good way to mount some struts to make the skirts turn appropriately with the wheels.

Yeah I read that Steve.

It's what happens with a board full of high school dumbasses.

The amazing part is that as you became more and more sarcastic, they still didn't get it.

Makes you want to go "Nu-Wood" some days huh?

Thats to funny.
I wonder if he would beleive you were engineering a new kind of spinner that will create downforce right at the wheels and make the car handle better. Call it the Tornado spinner.

My Avatar fits me pretty well. If you picture a half blind Mr Clean or Stone Cold Steve without the muscles, that's me.

Here are some examples from that thread.

Pardon my ignorance but why would you want to/need to roll your fender?

Better aerodynamics. With the price of gas I figured it'd be a useful mod.

I thought rolling your fenders was to fit larger wheels [Confused] ...Unless you mean better aerodynamics by lowering I don't understand why else you would

I'm going to roll the lips and have some side skirts made up for the wheel openings both front and rear, kind of like a 58 Impala. The only problem I forsee encountering would being able to turn the front wheels. I may have to fabricate a pivoting system for the front skirts. It should be really cool when I'm done. If I can get 30MPG on the highway I'll be real happy. Darren is working with me on a hybrid electric motor he is also going to install for me. With that 35 MPG may be with in reach. I'll keep you guys posted.

If you want good gas mileage y not just get a HONDUH!

or hell get a toyota. there reasonabl on gas. or at least mine is

Holy fawking kriest, are you guys really working on an electric assist motor?? If so, I want in on this project if you guys need any help. I've been interested in doing this for years but I don't have the know how/resources for something like that. I used to own a Honda Insight CVT so I'm partial to hybrids.

I was talking to my hybrid friends about possibley buying a Synergy Drive system from a broke-down Prius and fabricating it into the Z28 but they pretty much shot down the idea as being a huge money pit that might end up not working out at all so we never went on with it. It would be better to do as a Disertation or something. But if you guys are seriously working on something like that, I want one for my car too

LMAO unbelievable
