I had struck a deal with a local Texaco Express Lube for sponsorship.

I would get a full load of fuel for the race car, my fuel jugs and my tow rig before an event. Also, the tow rig got it's oil changed.

In exchange, the business logo was placed on the hood of the car and the car would be made available for 6 Saturdays a year to display in front of his place of business.

We were both excited about the venture ...

Texaco Corporate stepped and has seemingly nixed it all ... at least that is 2nd hand info I'm getting from one of the managers at the place. I need to stop by and talk with the owner to get the straight story, though. He had hinted about something like this, but basically said screw'em ... I guess it was a double ended dildo ...

I am a little disappointed as that would be a huge help to my racing budget ...

That sucks Mitch. That sounds like a really sweet deal if you can get it to stick. Fuel is expensive and free tow rig stuff is always good. What does corp care if he wants to fund it?

What he said. Does he take care of advertising locally or does corporate handle all of it?

I think it's a corporate brand kind of thing ...

Texaco Express Lube might even have an exclusivity clause with that NASCAR team ...

I have a couple other ideas ... maybe it will come together after-all ....

Hope you get it straightened out Mitch! I have a couple sponsors, turns out I was using them so much that they decided to give me deals or throw in free work once in a while! I have an auto repair shop and body shop, perfect for CMC! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I had t-shirts made up featuring the car and my race team logo and I make sure they are well stocked. I am also planning to give them some large photos for the walls of their shops of #37 in action!

I approached him this morning after our phone conversation and suggested a car display a few times a year.

The name of the game is catching the eye of people and leaving the car at his place of business for all to see as they pass by would accomplish that.

he seemed receptive and we are gonna give it a try ...
